The question that begs to be asked, and I do now know if there is an answer, is this.

Does following orders negate our responsibilities to God? and Mankind?

I do think we are responsible for our own actions, be it indirectly and knowingly supporting regimes that "do good", or following orders believing it.

It's impossible to show such individuals that they are wrong, because their morality hangs on justification of such things being "good" and "just". Yet, I'm certainly not the one to judge. It's all circumstantial play on fear that causes people to kill other people for some ideology they re-name "freedom".

Yet, at the same time I realize that believing so I am condemning myself... because I very much enjoy the comfort that arose mainly due to this neo-colonialism that established the dollar as sole currency of the world, and which is the only reason this nation is not in ruins of its own reckless spending habits. I pay taxes to keep the status quo for the fear getting jailed. So, yet... in many ways I'm no better than the soldier dropping the bomb. Both of us would be "court marshaled" for disobeying state orders.

Excellent points fccool. There aren't any that I would disagree with you on.

Is it? So it's better to allow evil men to rule and commit even worse atrocities on their own people, sometimes for no better reason than to feed their own perverted lusts?

Okay pk. That is not fair. Just because you belong to a political party not on the banned list. :)

May we be one so that the world may be won.

I'm not saying that was the case in Vietnam, but it certainly was true in Cambodia. I heard some pretty horrible stories from Iraq before the US invaded too.

You've all probably heard the quote that all that it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing. If it weren't for the might of the U.S. military, no doubt there would be a very different state of affairs in this country.

Last week I bought a new bed frame, a nice one at a great price.. got it home...... Made in Vietnam

My last two Pierre Cardin suits.... made in Viet Nam

Templates for some websites.... you guessed it, made in Viet Nam.

Get this

My Tax accountant... made in Viet Nam, he chose to immigrate to Canada about 10 years ago.

I was supportive of the war at the time. After all there were people who looked like me, fighting against shorter people, who did not look like me, and, get this they did not even SPEAK ENGLISH.

After all, my freedom needed to be protected, those people did not love God, and we needed to kill them all until they learned to.

If they were not stopped, they might come to Northern Canada where I lived, and take away some kind of freedom. Turns out -40 was not that attractive to them.

I sometimes wonder...... what was it all about?

That's usually used as justification of inflicting evil, which supposedly stops the greater evil.

It's a very slippery slope, considering the inconsistencies of US foreign policies seemingly acting in terms of controlling middle east presence rather than doing it for the benefit of the people of Iraq.

If such would be the case, they would not have supported Saddam in to begin with, and gave him money and weapons which were ultimately used against people of Iraq.

The situation in Iraq is sort of like solving a family fight with a gun, by shooting both the husband with a baseball bat and a wife who he is clubbing.

Most of the countries are very well capable of solving their own dictator problems. Egypt is a great recent example.

I finally had a chance to watch the video, absolutely an awesome witness of what Jesus says about forgiving those that do harm to you. It brings back memories of my time in basic training. It also tells a lot about us when we first are drafted or even those that joined the military, we are 18/19 years old and have no idea as to what we are doing or going to be asked to do for our country or God for that matter. But I do remember and was kind of sad to hear almost every GI talking about how they hoped that they would be sent to Nam so that they could kill them some gucks (I believe that's the right spelling). I would imagine that that is what this GIs mind set was that she was talking about. And obviously he came to his sense's and felt bad about what he did. This is a awesome miracle. Also not all are able to get to this point as the years go by. Thank God for the Holy Spirit.

I wasn't referring to the U.S. involvement in those places, only using them as examples, to answer the argument a lot of people make that there is never any justification for war. Without war, the entire world would be taken over by evil men like those.

MONEYMONEYMONEYMONEY

I know you are aware of this, Stan, but I thought I would bring it to your attention. Some might say that is too simplistic. If that is the case, why do the same people fund two different sides warring against one another?

"...for a root of all the evils is the love of money, which certain longing for did go astray from the faith, and themselves did pierce through with many sorrows;...
