Woody Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Is the Spirit of Prophecy just for the Remnant Church? Or is this gift in other churches also? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
skyblue888 Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Some of her writings were specifically written for the professed people of God like the 9 volumes of the testimonies for the church and some for the world like the conflict series and books like Christ's Object Lessons, Mount of Blessings, Steps to Christ, etc etc sky Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.

Moderators John317 Posted April 6, 2011 Moderators Posted April 6, 2011 Ellen White was more than a prophet. God also gave her the gifts of teaching, speaking and writing. Ministry of Healing was another book she wrote for the world. The Spirit of prophecy, of course, is the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit works in all churches where Christ is loved and worshipped. But the specific gift of prophecy as described in the Bible hasn't been in the churches since Apostlic days, except for Ellen White. God restored the gift of prophecy to the church at this time because God's law was to be "repaired." See Isaiah 58: 12: Isaiah 58:12 And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Musicman1228 Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God.” For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. Rev.19:10. According to this verse the 'Spirit of Prophecy is the testimony (words and teachings) of Jesus Christ. EGW IS NOT the Spirit of Prophecy. Therefore, the prophecies of Jesus Christ are true and sure and must be taken as the very words of God. Quote
miz3 Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 "At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." Revelation 19:10. The text in clear English states that: "the testimony of Jesus" = "the spirit of prophecy" This means that these two phrases are congruent entities. As congruent entities they are interchangeable. Secondly: How do SDA get from this text that the Bible is talking about Ellen G. White? Quote
