Members abelisle Posted April 11, 2011 Members Posted April 11, 2011 Basically it's a defense against the charges of pedophilia by their priests. http://www.bishop-accountability.org/news5/2011_04_11_Donohue_StraightTalk.pdf Alex Quote We are our worst enemy - sad but true. http://abelisle.blogspot.com
Gordon1 Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Hi Alex, I've not read this article, for I've read many before and there is little deviation from the deviants' line. Apologies. Regrettably, this RC pedophilia has been carried on for centuries and there is a well-established system to hide it from the public. Shuffle the offending priest to another diocese to continue his 'work' - standard operating procedure. And muzzle, or rarely, pay off the squeaky wheel victim. Even the present Pope knew of this policy in the 1980s, maybe the 1960s. Google the Vatican document 'Crimens Solicitationes' from 1962. One hallmark of a Christian, or a Christian organization, is to accept responsibility by telling truth, admitting error, making restitution. One Day we'll all confess the truth, but for now it's business as usual. Charles Chiniquy warned of this blight upon society in his book Fifty Years in the Church of Rome (1885), and a smaller work as well: The Priest, the Woman and the Confessional. There's nothing new under the sun. Quote

Sounds very similar to the SDA playbook This should be true of all churches. It is not true of ours anymore than the Catholics Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. skyblue888 Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 I agree with you Bonnie. The Lord has warned us: "Organizations, institutions, unless kept by the power of God, will work under Satan's dictation to bring men under the control of men; and fraud and guile will bear the semblance of zeal for truth and for the advancement of the kingdom of God. Whatever in our practice is not as open as day belongs to the prince of evil. His methods are practiced even among Seventh-day Adventists who claim to have advanced truth." T.M.366. Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.
Administrators Gail Posted April 11, 2011 Administrators Posted April 11, 2011 I've read Chiniquy's book, too. What he said in Lincoln's time was no different or more surprising than what people are saying today. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
bonnie Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 I agree with you Bonnie. CoAspen Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Very interesting and thought provoking if all presented is factual. I would not expect an organization to be open on this subject when its tradition is for singleness of Priest and Nuns. To become really effective, making changes, it would need to admit its model for priest hood is an open door for the influx of such sexual deviation. It would not and can not admit such because of all the ramifications it would mean for the organization. Quote

Moderators Bravus Posted April 11, 2011 Moderators Posted April 11, 2011 I'm aware of a number of instances of sexual and physical abuse by church employees in our Division that were covered up and the perpetrators moved on. The issue is not Catholicism, it's any organisation where defending the organisation becomes more important than defending the vulnerable. I agree with bonnie: it's far too easy to smugly point at the Catholics, but what we need to be doing is rending our clothes and making restitution for the sins of our own church. Moderators Bravus Posted April 11, 2011 Moderators Posted April 11, 2011 Bill Donohue's article made me furious, though: once again, try to shift the blame to homosexuals and those bringing priests to account, rather than trying to actually acknowledge and remedy the problem. He's an odious man at the best of times. Quote Truth is important

I agree with bonnie: it's far too easy to smugly point at the Catholics, but what we need to be doing is rending our clothes and making restitution for the sins of our own church. A few years ago the late James Cress wrote an article dealing with this topic. He was very blunt and to the point. His comments reflect that of the Catholic church.Including the refusal of the denomination to take responsibility, transferring the abuser to a different conference, blaming the spouse or the victim. We have nothing to say when it comes to sexual abuse by pastors, teachers ect. SDA reaction is the same as the catholics so many condemn. Spend the time cleaning up the actions of the SDA denomination instead of worrying about the Catholic behaviour. The lack of Catholic responsibility is not what nearly desroyed my family and hundreds of other SDA families. SDA behaviour did. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Quite agreed. The bigger the system and more swollen the hierarchy, the greater the chance of abuse. But Alex was addressing the Catholic issue in his opening post. And after all, corrupt SDAs learned all their tricks from the same source. Quote
