I don't have anything to contribute to my salvation. Christ did it all. When I fully understand and accept that ... I've experienced conversion. For our sinful nature wants to think that "I" can contribute when "I" can't. It's just in our nature. It's the greatest sin and deception of the last days. It is a mistaken idea that there are no conditions for those who want to be in the Kingdom of Heaven. Dr. Rich Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Woody, problem is, Jesus' death was on Wednesday, the exact same time the Passover lamb was to be killed. He is in the grave for 3 days (72 hours) and it was NOT the atonment as Paul would want people to beleve. His death did not do away with anyone's sin but did make it possible for those who obey God and become righteous to become saved. Waggoner at the 1897 General Conference gave a series of studies on the book of Hebrews and when discussing chapters 3 and 4 he explained this rest almost with the same words exactly. And this why it is written that "We are His workmanship, created (re-created) in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." Eph.2:10. These works we are enabled to do by the grace of God, of course, for they could never be wrought by the strength of our sinful natures and these works have no merits toward our salvation. God will reward us for these works but they do not play a part in the salvation of the soul or in merit. Only the all-sufficent merits of Christ will avail in our behalf.
