cricket Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I've always thought it was odd. I do recall a time when an elder in our church told us about a "negotiation" he made with God concerning Ingathering. His deal was that for every tomato he grew in the garden (or something, I can't recall if it was tomatoes or what exactly) he would donate $10 to Ingathering funds--he said he "nearly went broke" with the amount of tomatoes he'd grown that year! So, maybe. Maybe it's okay to negotiate with God. I dunno. Quote
Woody Posted April 18, 2011 Author Posted April 18, 2011 Gideon did - three times - and God honoured that. Good Point. And Abraham certainly was good at it. He did it more than three times I believe. And God honored it. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Members phkrause Posted April 18, 2011 Members Posted April 18, 2011 I don't believe its a problem, as Bravus has already mentioned, Gideon for one, Abraham for another, King Hezekiah I believe. Probably others. Oh and Moses.. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Dr. Shane Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 When I was having a difficult time with my boss and started looking for another job, I made a deal with God. I told Him if He helped me find another job I would put my kids in church school. Not only did He find me another job, the salary was higher by more than the cost of church school.
