When the Psalms talks about the soul, and when Mary says, "My soul doth magnify the Lord," what exactly is being referred to? Please include differences between soul and spirit as it relates to consciousness and the mind and the concept of sin and conversion AND everyday living. I'm reading "Biblical Psychology" by Oswald Chambers and while some of it I don't agree with, other parts are very good. Some of it is just plain over my head. He does talk about while God had us in His mind before we were born, the Bible does not speak of humans' spirit part as having existed in the same form as it does when it goes back to God. Although God in His foreknowlege knows that we will be bore, we are not a disembodied spirit before birth. EGW talks about the spirit we posses as containing our character when it returns to God at death. God uses that to match up with our glorified bodies. This is an interesting subject but one that can get eerie at times. What's say we have a go? Soul: Our mind, thoughts and intellect. Body: Our carnal flesh that will be changed in the twinkling of an eye. Quote "You may not agree with everyone. But if you are an honest man, when someone says something you disagree with it’ll drive you to the Word. If you find out that you were wrong and change your thinking then you are the better for it.
