Moderators james423 Posted April 30, 2011 Moderators Posted April 30, 2011 Perhaps you have heard the news from the American Southeast - we just went through a monster storm system complete with dozens of tornadoes and 328 confirmed deaths. One of those tornadoes or severe downdrafts or whatever you want to call it came within three miles of where I live here at Laurelbrook on Dayton (TN) mountain. When the storm was over, there was a five to seven mile trail of devastation. We had had nine inches of rain according to my rain gauge. Instead of going on our scheduled Spring Picnic that day, we went to see what we could do to help - groups of students and staff members cleared trees from roads, nailed shingles back on roofs, clean fences from debris, patched roofs and strengthened trusses. I noticed that trees were either uprooted or twisted off about thirty feet from the ground. Satan has his way with the destruction, but thank God our lives were spared. Quote James Brenneman
BobRyan Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 I was sittting that one out in North Georgia. Our state had 13 of the over 300 fatalities associated with this storm system. That included a case where a 3 story motel collapsed. I just returned from Raleigh visiting family in Holly Springs North Carolina. My daughter was asleep on Sabbath afternoon a few weeks ago when the tornados came charging through - destroying buildings about 200 yards away from her home and smashing the backwindow of her car parked in the driveway. (We think it was smashed due to air pressure differential caused by the storm since there were no dents and no debris). Our prayers are with the families of the victims in the deadly storm systems of the past 4 weeks. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin."
