Some of you may recall I've mentioned my "hot rod" car in a few threads. I've had a fierce internal debate raging about whether or not it fit in with my new christian lifestyle. That works for some folks, I wasn't sure if it worked for me or not.

The Pastor and the local folks at church have been very supportive on the issue with no pressure either way from anyone. I appreciate that, some things a guy just has to work out between him and the Lord.

The weather's been nice and I had the car out for a drive Wednesday, so I thought, well, I guess I could drive it to prayer meeting. I would NEVER drive it to church!

After prayer meeting I hung around inside visiting with a few folks and eventually exited to the parking lot. Only to find at least a dozen people hanging around the car, talking about it, drooling on it (OK, maybe not drooling, but I'm not sure). :)

I popped the hood so the guys could check out the motor and the ladies loved the smooth lines and all that. Lovely people, nice comments, wonderful reception. One gal wanted a ride, so I did take her around the block (which only served to remind of the "chick magnet" properties of the car). I'm used to this kind of attention, I don't have the car for that purpose, it just comes with the territory. You learn to live with it after awhile.

But this time was different. I felt really uncomfortable with the attention and the "manly talk" of big horse power and how fast was it, racing stories and that time when,,, and all that. It brought back a lot of memories of the old life, the one I'm trying to leave behind, trying to move forward from.

The was the final stroke for me, it just isn't compatible with where I'm going these days. I REALLY appreciate how nice everyone was about it and the love they showed toward me and the car. For those that can handle the attention and do OK with it, I don't have a problem with a nice custom ride. It's just ME, at this stage of MY life, I need to do something different.

...I've listed the car for sale and I'm OK with that. I have a certain peace about it. No looking back, my focus needs to remain on things of eternal value. Not some high dollar "shiny object" that tends to draw the thoughts and mind away from that which is truly important.

You know, this christian walk just keeps getting better and better! Praise the Lord!

It's a thing of beauty, but I can understand your decision.

I really appreciate the fact that you've given this testimony about your struggle and your thought processes, and I'm sure God will honour your faithfulness and willingness to put in the 'hard yards' for Him.

Truth is important

I am glad you are at peace with this decision, and that it is one

you have reached yourself. The last thing you needed in this situation

would have been a lecture from a wellmeaning but misguided other.

Blessings as you walk/move forward with Him.

Beautiful testimony ClubV12. I used to own a vette for a few years. For me, I had no problem driving it to church. Each one of us is at a different place in our walk with our Lord. I also had no problem letting that car go. But when I was younger I did have a problem getting rid of my '69 camaro. I found as I've grown closer to Jesus I have less of a problem allowing my material positions to go.

All the best to you, ClubV12! I'm sure you will make enough from the sale to replace it with something more to your present taste.

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Thanks V12. Rarely do we read of those truly convicted to forsake their idols. Inspiring!

I say, praise God. God will richly bless you for following his testimony to you.
