Does Jesus have access to the real you?

He knows your heart and soul... but have you exposed yourself right down to the heart for total healing?

I don't think this is as easy as it looks on paper. But I have a feeling that it is part of the judgment we all must go through...

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

GAIL

when i was a young christian on fire for JESUS i was a SABBATH SCHOOL TEACHER AND L.E.

and a deacon for my cute small rural old fashioned church

i fell in love with JESUS thru the book DESIRE of AGES and brought many into the church and baptisms

i shared JESUS whereever i went and was a vegitariun and lost alot of weight.

i was a good boy and JESUS was LORD N SAVIOUR

i was in my early 20's

yet at night when alone i was so filled with shame and guilt i didnt dare speak of it to GOD in a real way

I BELIEVED GOD LOVED ME WHEN I WAS REALLY REALLY GOOD only

to take off the CHRISTIAN MASK meant i would be HELL bound and no hope for me

so it was inconceivable to be real with GOD i was taught GOD hates the real me since i could remember

All progress in the Spiritual Life is knowing and Loving GOD

"there is non upon earth that I desire besides YOU" PS 73:25

That perspective changes EVERYTHING-suffering and adversity are the means that makes us hungry for GOD. Disapointments will wean us away wordly occupations. Even sin(when repented of) becomes a mechanism to push us closer to HIM as we experience His Love and Forgiveness.

It is a scary prospect for any of us, I think.

Yet, who else can we trust with our real soul?

Our viewpoint of God can really affect how intimate we can be with Him. For honesty and closeness, even unity with Him, how else can we do it unless we trust Him with who we really are?

And- Why is it so scary when He knows us, our true self, anyway?

I am thinking of the potential for the future if we should do this...

I agree Gail. God knows who we are on an intimate basis. Not telling Him about ourselves doesn't stop God from knowing us.

Opening ourselves up to Him isn't for His benefit. It's for our benefit.

I can relate. I've been there and done that too. You are most definitely not alone. I too was raised to have very high shame and guilt levels. I was raised to think I was of no value, and that everyone else in the world was of high value.

Another question:

As your Saviour, what does Jesus do with what you expose to Him, of the deep, dark, ugly part of you that you are ashamed to expose to people? PO touched on this when he said, Forgiveness...

What does God do with the dysfunctions we give to Him? He heals them.

Jesus said that He came so that we might have life, and have it more abundantly. Without healing that isn't possible. While forgiveness has a healing aspect to it, the God I know would feel He was doing us a disservice if all He did was forgive. That would be the least He could do, and God does nothing by half measures.
