Tools or Rules?

I believe that both 1 & 2 are good choice's. The "Tools" like the Bible, other books that lead us to make good choice's are very important. The "Rules" like the 10 Commandments are within the Tool that help us.

I'm more of a rules guy myself, I like the structure and organization, the stability they bring to my life. Goal oriented, how to get there.

Here are my four most important rules, I actually keep this list on my desk.

1. Prayer, study.

2. Work, for God, share your faith.

3. Faith itself.

4. Do, put into practice that which you believe.

Tools? Lot's of bookmarks. :)

As someone who has worked as a technical person most of my adult life, I'm a tools kind of guy.

God's word is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart, and to me that makes even His rules tools.

So, I guess I see almost everything as a tool.

This is a good temperament/paradigm type of question. It tells us how we view the world around us and a lot about us as individuals. For instance, everything that ClubV12 listed as rules I see as tools. Neither one of us are wrong, and neither one of us are right. It's just how differently we percieve the world.

I picked tools too. I see it like the saying goes, feed a man/teach a man, if one has the tools then they can just keep applying them to every situation. Also I see tools as flexible and rules break.
