According to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) the Vatican issued a secret document, "Crimen Sollicitatiois" (In English: "The Crime of Solicitation") during 1962.

"It instructs them how to deal with priests who solicit sex from the confessional. It also deals with 'any obscene external act ... with youths of either sex'."

"It imposes an oath of secrecy on the child victim, the priest dealing with the allegation, and any witnesses."

According to the Evening Standard, a UK newspaper:

"The document recommended that rather than reporting sexual abuse to the relevant legal authorities, bishops should encourage the victim, witnesses and perpetrator not to talk about it. And, to keep victims quiet, it threatened that if they repeat the allegations they would be excommunicated."

"The [bBC] Panorama special, Sex Crimes And The Vatican... accuses the Catholic Church of knowingly harbouring paedophile clergymen. It reveals that priests accused of child abuse are generally not struck off [i.e. fired] or arrested but simply moved to another parish, often to reoffend. It gives examples of hush funds being used to silence the victims."

Pedophilia is by no means limited to the RC church. Certainly child sex molestation has infected our own church as well as all denominations.

Most children are abused by someone they know and trust, although boys are more likely than girls to be abused outside of the family. A study in three states found 96 percent of reported rape survivors under age 12 knew the attacker. Four percent of the offenders were strangers, 20 percent were fathers 16 percent were relatives and 50 percent were acquaintances or friends. Among women 18 or older, 12 percent were raped by a family member, 33 percent by a stranger and 55 percent by an acquaintance.

Abuse typically occurs within a long-term, on-going relationship between the offender and victim, escalates over time and lasts an average of four years.

Good thinking Karl. Same goes for our wives.

Charles Chiniquy exposed the RC coverup methods in his 1885 classic "Fifty Years in the Church of Rome".

Also author of the smaller book "The Priest, the Woman and the Confessional".
