Stan Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Read on one of the newspaper sites about a woman sexting her spouse... all was fine.... until she took her phone in for repairs. Igakusei Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 This happens all the time. Lots of people store sensitive pictures of themselves on their phones/computers, and when you take them in for repair it's not unsurprising that the repair guys will look for them. Especially if you're an attractive woman. I've personally seen it happen on several occasions. Something to keep in mind. Quote I believe in life before death
Dr. Shane Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 If you do anything like that, you need to have a repair person you trust and tell him about what you were doing before he works on your phone/computer. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity

ClubV12 Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Trusting someone might not be enough. Innocent picture of your child taking a bath? There are LAWS that REQUIRE certain people to report such pictures or risk being an "accessory to the crime" if they don't. The nightmare that could result in: Loosing your kids to the state, divorce from the resulting stress, censorship or disfellowship from the church (regardless of conviction). As it is in the case of the church, and I'm talking SDA church here, all it takes is an accusation. There does NOT have to be an arrest or a conviction for an SDA church to censure you, disfellowship you or simply disallow your attendance, period. Based on nothing more than "suspicion". The SDA church can stop you, legally, from attending. It's private property, free speech does not apply, you have no "legal" rights to attend or force your way into church. Does this actually happen? Happens all the time these days! Bellevue Washington SDA church is one such example. They will not allow convicted sex offenders to attend church, period. There is no review, there is no consideration for the crime, there is no time limit, they don't care how you got the handle, your not welcome. There are many others as well. Quote
Dr. Shane Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 A picture of a child taking a bath is not child pornography. Child pornography is pictures of children engaged in a sexual act. There are sex education texts that show naked pictures of children at various stages of puberty and these are not considered child porn because the models are not engaged in a sexual act. That said, If I had anything like that on my computer or phone, I wouldn't leave it with a technician. I would first tell him or her what is on the device and then I would stay with them while they work on it. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... ClubV12 Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 "....child taking a bath is not child pornography." Oh, I agree! I'm sure the Judge will understand also, during that hearing to get your kids back. Quote
cricket Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Why are pictures of naked children not considered pornography, and yet naked pictures of adults are? I mean, just try taking a photo of your spouse in the bath--an innocent photo of a person washing themselves...and put it up in a frame for all your friends and family to see. Hey! It's completely innocent! Quote

Administrators Gail Posted June 10, 2011 Administrators Posted June 10, 2011 What's up with the American obsession with nudity in the first place? I wonder the same thing... Igakusei Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Originally Posted By: Igakusei What's up with the American obsession with nudity in the first place? I wonder the same thing... I think it's because in America, nudity is like the forbidden fruit. In most parts of Europe nudity is not directly linked to sexuality as it is here. If you grow up in an environment that doesn't "hide" nudity away in a dirty closet, it becomes simply a normal part of life. In Europe, a topless woman is just a topless woman. Women have breasts; big deal. In America, a topless woman is pornography because nudity is always coupled with sexuality here. Quote I believe in life before death
Dr. Shane Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Nudity is viewed as art in many circles. What constitutes pornography has a lot to do with the eye of the beholder. Yet most agree that pictures/video of people in sexual acts is pornography. Medical text books are filled with naked pictures that few would interpret as pornography. So the intention of the publisher/producer of the photos/video also play a role in determining what is porn and what isn't. This is an issue the courts in the US have struggled with. Dottie Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Aren't we getting close to the case of Anthony Wiener? He may be censured in the house, but hasn't been even arrested for pornography. I guess it all depends upon who you are. Quote
ClubV12 Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Last I heard on that issue Dottie, was the police are investigating a 17 year old high school student he was communicating with. ...not thats there anything wrong with that, as Seinfield might say. There may be nothing to it at all in fact, it was on Faux News so, consider the source. Quote

I think that much of my view of maturity actually revolves around people able to handle these things as adults... and not as kids. As far as porn, it's a bit easier to differentiate when you dissect etymology. I don't consider a husband and wife taping themselves for personal viewing to be pornographic. Neither I'd consider an education photo or video to be porn. Pornography etymologically linked to prostitution. It's a vicarious prostitution. So, it's somewhat different that studying human body or appreciating beauty of it. In terms of sexting, I think people should be more more mature on both ends of the spectrum. I mean, seriously! It's been two weeks. When are they going to let that story go? Quote
Dr. Shane Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Quote: I don't consider a husband and wife taping themselves for personal viewing to be pornographic. This reminds me of a story that is off-topic but I will share. I belonged to a recovery group that had a very big, fat lesbian that attended. One day she came in and shared with us how she and her lover made a porno video (her words not mine) for them to enjoy. And, keep in mind, this was not a recovery group that dealt with any sexual addictions. Many of us were baffled that she would share that. Moderators Bravus Posted June 12, 2011 Moderators Posted June 12, 2011 I repeat: if you record it, be aware it can get out. Maybe when you take out the video of your kid's birthday to show grandma and the tapes get mixed up. Or maybe a burglar gets it. Quote Truth is important

I believe the guy, not sure of his name, does some hacking. That's the second person his caught. I need to check into that. ClubV12 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Probably a combination of the two, which came first? Hacking is a tricky term, it could include little more than tricking someone into giving up their password, or masquerading as someone your not to gain info from a target, or a friend of the target. In other words, it doesn't necessarily mean some computer genius, could be just a smart crook, a smooth operator. Ever sent an email to an unintended person, or a GROUP of persons? I've done both, it's SO embarrasing! :) Quote
