Administrators Gail Posted June 16, 2011 Administrators Posted June 16, 2011 What, in your opinion, is the most pressing issue for Christians today? It seems there are just so many diversions to keep our sight off the simplicity of Jesus. What are some that have afflicted your Christian circles? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted June 16, 2011 Author Administrators Posted June 16, 2011 A generation ago I would have said that personal spiritual issues such as SDA identity, legalism and assurance of salvation would have been big ones. Today the situation seems more complex than it was even then. We live in interesting times! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members abelisle Posted June 16, 2011 Members Posted June 16, 2011 Intolerance - for ideas, people, political leanings, theological understandings/interpretations, ethnic/cultural traditions . . . Essentially a refusal to make an effort for coexistence and love for others and their opinions. Have you noticed here on CA, that it is rare for people to quote and/or surmise what Jesus would have done in certain situations? But quoting EGW is commonplace. ClubV12 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Alex makes the point about Ellen White being an issue, I see that a LOT in church and of course here on this web site. When someone asks, "What would Jesus do?" The Spirit of Prophecy is an excellent source to answer that very question and bring clairity to the bible. I don't understand why we have to tie one arm behind our back by ignoring her counsel when seeking answers to lifes questions? I can see where it's not a good idea when talking to non-adventists. In that case my advice is generally directly related from what I've learned by her writings. Again, how she clairifies what the bible says. But here? It's a Adventist web site, no apologies needed for the SOP. :) Quote
Sonny Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 It goes without saying....Just look at the majority of my posts. Quote
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted June 16, 2011 Members Posted June 16, 2011 What, in your opinion, is the most pressing issue for Christians today? Forgiving and forbearance.. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

Windsor Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 If we believe that the church of today is represented by Laodicea then we need look no further than Revelation to determine the most pressing issues facing Christians today. 14 “To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. 15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. Quote Remember Adventists Online?
Sonny Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Self-righteousness is not the wedding garment. A failure to follow the clear light of truth is our fearful danger. The message to the Laodicean church reveals our condition as a people. [RH 12-15-1904] Quote
