Evidence about the Sabbath

I believe the commandments are a natural law and have been around from everlasting and will be to everlasting. They were written down in human form so we could understand them, and they were not written in English on the tablets.

It does not make sense to me that the Sabbath did not exist before ADAM and EVE.

It is clear that we will be blessed by the Sabbath in the New Earth as well.

BUT is the biblical evidence that the Sabbath did not exist from everlasting, and the first celebration of it was on planet earth?

Biblically, the narrative begins "in the beginning" at the formation of the Earth. We're given very little - if anything - about what transpired before that, or even when Satan and his angels were cast out. We're not told why Yahweh rested the seventh day, simply that He did, and blessed it as a result.

From a purely Biblical standpoint, there's no evidence that it either did or did not exist before the seventh day of creation. We're told almost nothing about what happened in that period.

I agree. Common sense tells me that the Sabbath was around from before this earth earth was created, and that includes the whole 10 Commandments as well.

It is interesting, in Genesis it says that God rested on the Seventh Day, not that God commanded Adam to rest on the Seventh Day. Adam's reaction to the Sabbath was in response to God's rest, not (or not only) an instruction. It says God blessed it and set it apart during the creation; and the New Testament tells us it was made "for man," but the fact that God is eternal would indicate that this idea of resting is a part of His everlasting nature, whether or not there were physical beings (yet) to share in the blessings of that spiritual rest.

I'm not sure the angels can afford to rest on Sabbaths, since they are ministering to us But... I think that they day is significant for all creation, because if God blesses something, it is blessed indeed, and if He says something is holy, it is holy indeed.

Interesting thought, it make me think of Pastors, Sabbath being the day that they do most of there work.
