SDA Congressman Votes For SAME-SEX Marriage!

Society cannot take the position that "anything goes" in the name of freedom. There are limits that must be enforced, by civil and criminal law. Without that, the slippery slope will lead to a National rejection of God's law. That is coming, we can't stop it, but we do have a responsibility to try, to speak to the issues at hand. To deliver the message we have been given. Fear God, for the hour of His judgment is come. Accept His righteouness by faith, while there is still time. It is a message of love, that no one need perish. If we don't deliver it, their blood will be on our hands.

In your world, everything you consider sin should be legislated against....is that correct?

That is what I get from your comments.

We have been down this road many times before and no clear answer is ever given to they question, Who is going to decide the 'sin' is and who is going to choose the definition to be enforced. Who is going to draw the line? Is that the world you want to live in! It has been tried many times in the past and we have it today in different religions.

Those that want their 'pet' sin legislated against are heading down a very slippery slope and more likely to erode our freedom of choice in all things.

(Let the sun shine, no more feeding)

I coundn't agree more. It seems that religious liberty for SDA only extends as far as the SDA agenda. We can't support the need for non-christians to have religous freedom. Either we uphold the separation of church and state or we don't. Right now we are speaking out both sides of our mouths. We want those who keep Sunday to acknowledge our freedoms that are beyond thier belif system but when it is time to reciprocate the many SDA are unable to do so.

Since when is gay marriage a religious liberty issue?

Gays make no claims to religion or religious liberty. We are told to honor the laws of the land and not to disrespect those who govern because they were put into office by God. Federal law defines marriage as between a man and a woman, State law does not change that. Immigration, military and other Federal issues will not recognize a gay marriage, as it should be in my opinion.

Prohibition worked. After prohibition, it took a generation, or about 30 years, for alcohol consumption in the US to return to what it was before prohibition. Domestic abuse and crimes committed while intoxicated both dropped because of prohibition.

I agree, Shane. My father said that he remembered those days well and that he wished Prohibition had never been repealed. He believed things were a lot worse because of the Repeal.

I'm sure that will change-- once the militrary accepts gays openly in the service, they will soon afterwards accept gay marriage. Gay soliders who are married to each other won't be able to serve in the same unit, just like married heterosexual couples can't serve in the same unit or on the same ship, for obvious reasons.

Religious liberty allows us to practice our religion and protects others from having thier freedoms infringed on by others religous views. Many individuals reject gay marriage based on biblical principles. By enforcing God's law upon those who dissagree with the interpretation of the bible or are not even chrisitians forces denies them a legal union with its accompanying legal rights. Gays are fighting for the same leagal rights heterosexual couples possess. However, because of our religious views we seek to prohibit them from gaining those rights. This is not about the our freedom to practice our religion rather it is about gays not having our religious views forced on them.

Many people believe murder is wrong based on Biblical principles. Many people believe fraud is wrong based on Biblical principles. Many people believe driving recklessly is wrong based on Biblical principles. Many believe that prostitution is wrong based on Biblical principles. Laws are based on morality. All laws are based on morality. There is no getting away from that.

Religious liberty is about the law accommodating multiple religions which exist under its civil jurisdiction. Thus if a civil government wants to pass gay marriage laws, they should make sure that such gay marriage laws do not result in adherents of religions having to violate their conscience. For example, it would be wrong for the civil government to force a Catholic adoption agency to place a child with a gay couple.

OooKkkk then... whew, I got dizzy trying to wrap my head around that logic (Shellys logic). :)

Next stop, Sharia Law for the Muslims, so we don't offend them also with our own personal "religious agenda". And no crying foul when they come to put you to death for not converting to Islam (they have their rights you know). Or cut off your hand for stealing that candy bar. No limits! Right? Anything goes! All in the name of religious freedom. OoooKkkk then...

Thin Line Between Church And State

....With his pastor, Castro spoke about the fact that I thought it was the right thing to do. But religiously I was definitely torn. He said to me, Look, civically, you have a responsibility to represent your community. That has nothing to do with God.;

I believe somewhat the same, only I could not vote for something that clearly violates God's moral law.

I could vote for people to be free to smoke cigarettes and eat pork, but I think there's a difference between those things and voting to make it possible for men to marry men and women to marry women.

In 1972, I wanted to marry my male "room-mate." In those days, however, it would only have been a formal ceremony, without any legal binding.

So, clearly, I am not the same person that I once was. But I do know from experience what it is like to have a desire to marry outside of God's will.

We are having a discussion about homosexuality on my Facebook, and a man is saying that he does not believe that a homosexual can change....I was wondering if you would care to share your testimony on my Facebook? Here is the link - http://www.facebook.com/tammy.roesch/posts/239249069434049 I think your testimony would be a great help.

I've been thinking about it...

I'm addicted to sin. Theres nothing I can do about it. It's the way God made me. I've tried to hide it, deny it, justify it. Lot's of people support me and tell me it's OK. Celebrate who you are, they say, be proud of it, live your life with no regrets! After all, it's impossible to change, God understands and loves you anyway.

But I choose to believe God CAN help me, I'm tired of excusing myself on the basis that it's to hard to change. Any one of us could say that, it's just to hard, to impossible to change. I won't buy into that lie anymore. I will step out in faith, it will require a significant struggle of my will. But God will bless my efforts as faith is combined with works, I have my part to do. It will never be enough to justify anything, to avoid the penalty for sin, death. But I will move forward to the goal never the less. In the end, I will put my faith in Jesus because my works mean nothing, but my faith in Him means everything.

God means what He says, says what He means. Let no man deceive you on this point.

im glad more and more people are seeing homosexuals as humans who as adults make choices to what they want to do with their lives and whom they want to spend it with

im glad more and more people are also seeing homosexuals/heterosexuals have a right to embrace God or not. To choose their religion or no religion.

im glad im not forced to make life decisions by others ideas or religions.

GOD gave us choices and idiots want to take it away when they disagree.

I'm sorry I didn't see your post until just now, July 28. I'll be glad to do that. I hope I'm not too late. :-)

We all have a choice, in everything we do. In any and every group you will always find those recruiting to join their group. Some more adamant about it than others. Some get angry if you don't support or join them. Like some Tea Party friends I had dinner with the other night (I tried to NOT to discuss politics, but they wouldn't let it go). Like some homosexuals I've met, not exactly nice folks. A church group is no different, it's a hospital for sinners. I'm glad I have a choice too. In the end, we will all stand alone, with no excuses.

Yep, and it won't surprise me at all when the SDA Pastors start marrying them, either. What is it going to take to wake people up? Abortions being done in SDA hospitals doesn't seem to upset people, so I doubt that homosexual weddings will bother many, either....
While it may be our christian duty to oppose parts of the gay agenda; what you say here is ridiculous.
