Members abelisle Posted July 9, 2011 Members Posted July 9, 2011 Meseret Defar is a world-class Ethiopian runner who happens to be one of my friends on the Daily Mile site. This is a clip of her winning the 5000M(3.1 miles) race this weekend in Paris, France. For any track fans out there, she ran a sub 60 sec. last 400 - blisteringly fast! Amelia Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I'm in total awe of those who can run. Being an endo morph the most I can do is a fast walk. LOL WTG Meseret! Members abelisle Posted July 18, 2011 Author Members Posted July 18, 2011 latest correspondence: Hi Meseret, In preparation for your racing season, what does your typical training week look like? not only in terms of weekly volume but in the balance of aerobic and anaerobic workouts. And lastly how do you maintain your peak during the racing season? Alexander: My mileage volume varies from 90 miles a week to 110 miles a week. I have 2 running workouts a day, 6 days a week (7th day is for the rest). I do ranges of tempo runs, short speed intervals and long distance runs. For anaerobic....we say no Ethiopian day will be complete without fast strides uphill! As well as weight workouts daily focused in core and leg strength. Prevent injuries is so important to me so I also include other strengthening, stretching, ice baths and message rigorously Quote We are our worst enemy - sad but true. http://abelisle.blogspot.com
