We could take all the money the rich have and it wouldn't be enough to balance the budget. The big pot of money resides with the middle class collectively. If government will not reduce spending, it must increase taxes on the middle class. The solution is to reduce spending to no more than 18% of the GDP and grow the economy.

The higher the tax the less revenue.Remember the yacht tax. Scores laid off and the rich went elsewhere to purchase their yachts.

This president spoke out against raising taxes in this economy just last year. He had much to say about raising the debt ceiling when Bush did it.Irresponsible was the kindest thing, according to Obama we needed to learn to live within our means.

Unfortunately most hear "tax the rich" and they rub their hands in glee.

Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this.

Don't fall for this right-wing rhetoric. Bill Clinton raised taxes and revenues actually increased. There are just too many dynamics in an economy for such simple statements to establish any type of rule.

I don't believe raising taxes right now is our solution. I think there is way too much spending. In just two years Obama has increased the national debt by 50%. And Democrats whined and cried about Reagan's spending. Let's go back to the 2007 budget and the crisis will be over.

Why don't you do something about your "right wing" obsession over everything that is said.

I know it is difficult for you to understand but some actually learn from life.

If raisng taxes increases revenue,by all means let's have it.

I know far to many people during high tax years that would refuse overtime if they could get by with it. It wasn't worth it to them when they saw what was taken from their checks.

Local small businesses will not expand or hire till Obama is out of office. It is not right wing rhetoric that is stopping them. Many have simply retired sooner than they planned or cut back. Not right wing rhetoric but reality.Instead of the many dollars my brother was already paying in taxes, under threat of Obama he is not paying any on his business now.A lower but hefty tax paid by his very well paid employee's has been cut drastically.

Typically for every dollar of increased revenue the government spends 1.56.

When MN decided to go with a sales tax it was temporary to balance the budget. Guess what? It was not temporary it just kept going up.We got the lottery to pay for education. No one seems to know what happened to the money.Teachers are always demanding more and more.

Take a look at the states that do not have a state income tax and hold the line on spending.

The reason is not enough union workers paying in to maintain it's current status.

If taxes go up they do not see an end to the low employment.

Some of the companies are pulling out of MN to states without state income taxes to limit their tax liability
