bonnie Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Jackson Lee: Congress Complicating Debt Ceiling Because Obama Is Black By Josiah Ryan - 07/15/11 03:02 PM ET Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) on Friday strongly suggested that members of Congress are making it difficult for President Obama to raise the debt ceiling because of his race. "I do not understand what I think is the maligning and maliciousness [toward] this president,” said Jackson Lee, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. “Why is he different? And in my community, that is the question that we raise. In the minority community that is question that is being raised. Why is this president being treated so disrespectfully? Why has the debt limit been raised 60 times? Why did the leader of the Senate continually talk about his job is to bring the president down to make sure he is unelected?” Earlier in her speech, Jackson Lee said Obama has been targeted unlike any other president. "I am particularly sensitive to the fact that only this president — only this one, only this one — has received the kind of attacks and disagreement and inability to work, only this one," said Jackson Lee from the House floor. "Read between the lines," she continued. "What is different about this president that should put him in a position that he should not receive the same kind of respectful treatment of when it is necessary to raise the debt limit in order to pay our bills, something required by both statute and the 14th amendment?" Jackson Lee concluded by saying that she hoped someone would step up and say that what appears obvious to her is not in fact true. "I hope someone will say that what it appears to be is not in fact accurate," said Lee. "But historically it seems to be nothing more." Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. olger Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 It IS A COLOR issue for me !!! Absolutely. I am opposed to red! Opposition to raising the debt ceiling comes directly from the fact that Obama has a delicious affinity for red ink. `oG Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

bonnie Posted July 17, 2011 Author Posted July 17, 2011 I'm sorry to see it's come down to this. That is all there is. There is no defense of Obama and where he has taken and is taking this country,so fall back on the tried and trusted race card. Guest Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Sadly she is a SDA wacko I think you would need to use that term very loosely in order to pin that on her. Quote

Moderators John317 Posted July 18, 2011 Moderators Posted July 18, 2011 ...Sadly she is a SDA wacko Seriously, I would like to know if she's involved in an SDA church and how often she attends and whether she really believes the doctrines of the church. I have no idea, but I would like to know. She might. She sure represents the church a lot differently than the SDA Congressman, Jerry Pettis. He represented Loma Linda and San Bernaradino back in the 1960s and 70s. He'd been an SDA pastor and evangelist, a good man. Of course he was a Republican Congressman. He died when his private plan crashed in the fog on the way to Loma Linda. olger Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Tidbits: After her speech at the Michael Jackson Memorial, people began to ask if the Congresswoman's trip was paid for using tax payer funds. A local new station asked the Congresswoman's office, but she replied that she was not required to answer the question. When asked in an interview, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee stated that "it was paid for through funds available to her." In other words, yes, taxpayer's money. In July of 2010, Sheila Jackson Lee spoke at an NAACP event and accused TEA Party members of being modern day members of the Klu Klux Klan. In a speech on the floor of the US House, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee spoke about the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and used the example of North and South Vietnam living side by side as an example of the peace that can be achieved by withdrawing our troops and allowing the people of Iraq and Afghanistan to work out a solution. North and South Vietnam existed during the Vietnam war, but when the US pulled out, the North took over the south and Vietnam has been one country since 1975. During a 2005 visit to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, Lee asked whether the Mars Pathfinder had taken an image of the flag planted on Mars by Neil Armstrong in 1969. (Armstrong's 1969 mission, of course, was to the Moon, not Mars. Sarah Palin looks like a MENSA member compared to this woman... Scary? Not only does she vote, she votes directly on laws. One can't help but wonder why she hasn't attracted as much interest as Palin. But then again...one knows, doesn't one. :) Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

Dr. Shane Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 I would like to know if she's involved in an SDA church and how often she attends and whether she really believes the doctrines of the church. One of our members here belongs to the same church she does but now I don't remember which one. He mentioned it a few years ago when we were talking about her. From what I understand, she attends church regularly and often speaks at Adventist events like campmeetings and such. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Moderators John317 Posted July 19, 2011 Moderators Posted July 19, 2011 Wow, OK. Thanks for that info. I hope if the person who goes to that church is still a member here, they will tell what they know. I have learned that some people's public persona is not an accurate representation of them. Little Richard is a case in point. In person he is a totally different kind of character than the one you see on TV when he is "on camera." All that is really just a show. A close friend of mine drove Little Richard from his home to an SDA school where my friend teaches, and the recording artist was nothing like he is in the shows. He refused to sing or talk about music but only talked about the Bible. Not saying that is what's happening with Jackson Lee, but it could be similar.
