The covenant confirmed in Daniel 9 has to be the covenant that the Lord has with His nation of Israel [Jeremiah 31:31-37] .... there is no other covenant described in Daniel's vision

.... and there is no indication that this covenant is some sort of peace treaty between Israel and the nation's enemies [the prince that shall come and his followers]

And there is a specific time lapse given from 445 B.C. to the first coming of the Lord, His cutting off [about 33 A.D.], and the future consummation of the 70th week decreed for Daniel's people [not the church] [the period of the church is not seen by the O.T. prophets .... is not recorded in their visions]

Only the Lord can confirm this covenant by executing the events of the coming 70th week .... thereby reaching the 6 objectives for the believing remnant of Israel who will turn to Him during the time of Jacob's trouble [Jeremiah 30; Daniel 9:1-27; 12]

Visionary prophecy must be read carefully and in this case one needs to see that there are two princes involved .... the Lord .... and the other prince .... satan's beast in the little horn of Daniel's visions .... the first beast of Revelation [9:11; 11:7; 13:1-5; 17:8]

It is the Lord who was "cut off" at the end of the 69th week .... it is the other prince and His followers who will come and desecrate at the middle of the future 70th week decreed. [Daniel 9:26]

The vision then repeats this same contrast between the two princes:

Daniel

9:27 And he [the Lord] shall confirm the covenant with many [the believing remnant of Israel] for one week [one 7 .... 7 years]

.... and in the midst of the week he [the other prince] shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate [Daniel 8:9-26], even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. [Ezekiel 38:38; Daniel 11:45; Joel 2:20; Micah 5:5-6; Zechariah 14:3-5 [the immortal church will be with the Lord when He intervenes to destroy the other prince and his followers]; Revelation 14:14-20; 16:1-16; 19:11-21]

The Lord ["He"] will confirm the covenant .... the other prince cannot do this and would not because of the 6 objectives that will be met for Daniel's people, the believing remnant part of national Israel. [Zechariah 13:8-9; Daniel 9:24; Romans 11:25-36]

Then the other prince ["he"] will cause the sacrifice oblation to cease. [israelite worship at the base of the western wall of the temple mount ... the most holy place for Israel today] [Jeremiah 30:5-7; Daniel 8:9-12; Zechariah 14:1-5; Matthew 24:15-16]

This other prince is the little horn of Daniel 11:36-45 and 12:7. This king of the north and his followers will invade, occupy and rule over Israel, Jerusalem, and the temple mount for 42 months before the Lord will pour out His wrath upon the desolaters. [Jeremiah 30:1-7; Ezekiel 38:11-16; Daniel 11:41; Joel 2:20; 3: 14-21; Micah 5:5-6; Revelation 11:2; 13:5]

None of the events of the time frame of the 70th week of 2,520 days + 30 days has transpired yet and is still pending at this time. [Daniel 12:4-11] .... the events scheduled are delayed until the time of the end [the time appointed .... Daniel 11:35]

There is a breach in the time lapse that can be found in all of the prophetic visions related to the time of the end of this present age .... between the bronze thighs and the legs of iron [Daniel 2:32; 2:33]; between the 3rd and 4th kingdoms [symbolic animal beasts] [Daniel 7:6; 7:7]; between the end of the rule of Antiochus IV and the coming little horn [Daniel 11:35; 11:36] and between the Lord's ascension and those of Israel who will flee from Satan's beast in the little horn and his followers at the middle of the future 70th week [Revelation 12:5; 12:6]

Events on the earth between the end of the 69th week [about 33 A.D.] and the beginning of the 70th [still future] are not recorded in the scope of visionary prophecy ... many significant things have come and gone over the last 2,000 years and they are simply not there .... the visions are silent

Wrong!

25 Know therefore and understand that from the going out of the word to restore and build Jerusalem to the coming of an anointed one, a prince, there shall be seven weeks. Then for sixty-two weeks it shall be built again with squares and moat, but in a troubled time. 26 And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall be cut off and shall have nothing. And the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end shall come with a flood, and to the end there shall be war. Desolations are decreed. 27 And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week, and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.” Dan 9:25-27 ESV

And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood. Lk 22:20 ESV

And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. Mk 15:38 ESV

I say you are wrong GC

The entire chapter of Daniel 9 is about Daniel's people .... ethnic Israelites .... not the church composed of both Jew and Gentile on matters of a shared salvation

.... and not on matters of national identity [there is neither Jew or Gentile in the Lord's church, but those saved by His grace through faith

..... but there is set apart nation of Israel from all others, in the past, now, and in the future

The biblical evidence of this truth is overwhelming

None of the O.T. prophets include the Lord's church of today in any of their visions .... this inclusion of the Gentiles [heathen] into the Lord's salvation was not shown to them

Yes, Daniel 9 is certainly about Daniel's people, the Jews, but please notice what it says about Daniel's peoploe. It gives them a certain period of time-- 490 years-- to fulfill God's plan for them as a nation. So God separates 490 years from the 2,300 years, and he devotes all of the 490 to the Jews.

Daniel 9: 24 tells us what God says Israel must do during those 490 years.

Sadly, we all know that physical Israel failed to fulfill God's plan. With what result? That God would fulfill His plan through the Church and not through the people of Israel.

Again .... another refutation of the Lord's future intent to restore an earthly kingdom to a believing remnant part of His national people [same as Daniel's people]
