Administrators Gail Posted August 2, 2011 Administrators Posted August 2, 2011 A number of our Port Hardy families are related to the pilot. I'll try to get the name: Quote: Three dead in helicopter crash near Stewart, B.C. BY EVA COHEN, VANCOUVER SUN AUGUST 1, 2011 8:43 PM A pilot and two passengers died in a weekend helicopter crash on Nelson Glacier, near Stewart in northern B.C. The crash was reported to Stewart RCMP at about 4 p.m. on Sunday. The helicopter was operated by Vancouver Island Helicopters, which sent a second helicopter to take officers to the crash site, said RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk. He said efforts were underway Monday to recover the bodies. The pilot was from Abbotsford while the passengers, both adult males, were respectively from Powell River and Quebec. Their identities are not being released while RCMP contact next of kin. Transportation Safety Board investigator Bill Yearwood said the pilot was transporting personnel for a mining company at an altitude of 5,200 feet. He was not sure whether they were being picked up or dropped off from the location they were planning to access. Stewart is located near the B.C.-Alaska border, about 160 km north of Prince Rupert. The terrain in the area is rough and not accessible by any other means than helicopter, said Yearwood. “The aircraft that went to find the wreckage at the crash site experienced bad weather and reported the winds were quite turbulent,” said Yearwood. “We can’t say if that is also what the first helicopter experienced since sadly they all perished.” The cause of the crash is unknown but will be further investigated by Transport Canada, said Moskaluk. echohen@vancouversun.com © Copyright © Postmedia News Read more: http://www.canada.com/news/Three+dead+helicopter+crash+near+Stewart/5187053/story.html#ixzz1TqMNgzk9 Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Administrators Gail Posted August 2, 2011 Author Administrators Posted August 2, 2011 Randy Lambert was his name and he was brother to our friends Augie and Pam Medina (Pam's brother). But it's a large family on the northern part of Vancouver Island. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
