I'm not totally surprised at the allegation. It was talked about as a possibility even at the time. I thought of it too, but, I don't think it happened that way.

Johnson was definitely capable of it, even according to his closest people, but I don't believe the evidence supports it.

I also remember tapes and videos going around about the illuminati stuff, which LBJ was suppose to of been a member, and that they had to get rid of JFK because he was doing so much good for the minorities of this country. The other thing that was going around was that JFKs father got him elected with the help of the mafia and they were the ones that had JFK killed.

I'm not referring to anything dealing with the Illuminate. The beliefs that Johnson may have had something to do with JFK's death had nothing to do with the Illuminate. That's a whole different subject.

It's just well known that Johnson personally hated the Kennedys; that he was very ambitious to be president; and that he was ruthless, capable of having someone killed who stood in the way of something he really wanted. Johnson hated being vice-president, a do-nothing position, and the Kennedy's and their people ridiculed Johnson and made him feel useless.

As I said, though, I don't believe the evidence shows that Johnson actually did it, but I can understand why some people thought for a while anyway that he may have done it.

It is true that JFK's father helped get him elected. That is well known today. The election was so close that if JFK had lost Chicago, Nixon would have been elected president. Nixon was aware of the fraud, but unlike Al Gore, Nixon put the unity of the nation above his personal ambitions. So he decided not to challenge the election.

It's not all that well known but Nixon and John Kennedy were actually good friends, having worked closely together during their early years in the Senate. Their offices were fairly close together, so they saw a lot of each other in those days.

There is that story about the Mafia having Kennedy killed. It's a possibility but I don't think that's what happened. The Mafia probably would never have picked Lee Harvey Oswald to kill Kennedy. He was unstable and while he was a good shot with a rife, he wasn't a great one.

The theories about the Mafia killing Kennedy were based on conjecture and on a lot of things we know now are not true about the shooting. For instance, we know now that there were no second or third shooters. Another thing is that we know now that the man (whose name I've forgotten) was lying who claimed he saw Oswald, Farrie and some other co-conspirators together. (Much of the film, JFK, directed by Oliver Stone, was based on that man's false testimony. It made a good movie anyway.)

The Warren Commission came to the right conclusion: Oswald was the lone shooter.

A lot of people have a hard time believing it, partly because they don't want to believe such a great and good man as JFK could be destroyed by such a big loser, a "nobody," acting all alone.
