President Obama’s potentially criminal use of a mysterious, Connecticut-based Social Security Number should become an important issue in his quest for re-election in 2012, says a former presidential candidate and ambassador in Ronald Reagan’s administration.

Alan Keyes, who most recently sought the Republican nomination in 2008, discussed concerns about why Obama has a number reserved for Connecticut applicants, despite the president’s never having lived in the Constitution State.

The first three digits of Obama’s SSN are 042. That code falls within the range of numbers for Connecticut, which according to the Social Security Administration has been 040 through 049.

“I believe that when you are confronted with a situation that is filled with these kinds of – what shall we call them – anomalies, disparities, it is reasonable common sense to want to try to get straight answers,” said Keyes.

“If you’re trying to ascertain whether or not somebody ought to be sitting with, as they used to say, their finger on the button of nuclear weapons that can blow up the world, their power extending to decisions that can collapse our economy, their influence extending to areas that can destroy the standards and moral conscience of our people in the eyes of the world, I think you might want to know who they were. It might be a good idea!”

My Comment:

I was wondering if this would ever come up. I doubt it will become a big issue as long as the main stream doesn't report on it. And I doubt if we'll be seeing that anytime soon.

No doubt the "main stream" media will not be reporting this. Just like they typically don't report every loony UFO sighting or space alien babies with three heads being born.

That's because they do a bit of research before repeating wild-eyed ignorance.

This from Wikipedia:

Quote:
The Area Number, the first three digits, is assigned by the geographical region. Prior to 1973, cards were issued in local Social Security offices around the country and the Area Number represented the office code in which the card was issued. This did not necessarily have to be in the area where the applicant lived, since a person could apply for their card in any Social Security office. Since 1973, when SSA began assigning SSNs and issuing cards centrally from Baltimore, the area number assigned has been based on the ZIP code in the mailing address provided on the application for the original Social Security card. The applicant's mailing address does not have to be the same as their place of residence. Thus, the Area Number does not necessarily represent the State of residence of the applicant, neither prior to 1973, nor since.

More wild-eyed ignorance, to be sure.

And we have a few of that type on this board.

Alan Keyes LOL!!!

Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.

Really!? Is that what they were doing when Gabrielle Giffords got shot? Within 2 hours they had the guy being a Conservative Republican, with probable ties to the tea party, and the whole thing could be traced back to and layed at the feet of Rush Limbaugh, and Sarah Palin. They were the ones who really caused it. And they were actually putting this stuff out as if it were fact.

Only problem was, the guy was NOT a Republican, and didn't know anything about the tea party, and wasn't even a Rush Limbaugh listener. He wasn't even political come to find out, just another nutjob.

Talk about wild eyed ignorance...

And I can cite these types of things from the mainstream media all day long, this was just the first one that popped into my head.

I think there is a distinct difference in the live breaking news chatter that often gets facts screwed up and investigative journalism. Don't confuse the two just because Faux Noise so frequently does.

A huge difference is that responsible mainstream media is more apt to catch and correct their mistakes. The fringe "news" hounds and the non-mainstream (i.e. Fox) frequently just move on or continue to elaborate and speculate, often long after everyone else has caught the mistake and corrected it.

And that is exactly what happened in the coverage of the Giffords situation.

What's wrong with Alan Keys? He is a political gadfly, for starters.

No! You don't jump to conclusions like that based on nothing. And nothing was what they had. It was based (as always) on their political leanings. The mainstream are a bunch of lefties.

And when did they correct it? They kept it going for about a week. If it hadn't gotten debunked by other media outlets, they would still be telling it that way. It wasn't just a breaking news thing like you say.

This is an accurate relation of the facts.
