olger Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I disagree with Rush on exercise. I agree with him on environmentalism. G Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

bonnie Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I take everything he says with a grain of salt. He is far from the only one. Not that warnings and tracking the storm was uncalled for,but this was not the hurricane of the century.24/7 for days and days. There were many days of warning,no one or very few had to be in the path of the storm. While I feel for those that have lost their homes,(I can relate),those without flood insurance should have to bite the bullet. For most there is no reason to stretch federal resources to cover any of this.Federal intervention should be limited and only what the citizens and the state cannot do. There was nothing special about our state or cummunities when we were hit by one tornado after another in 1965.There was no preparedness,no Fema and aid and recovery went like clockwork. We didn't know any better. Looters were out within a half hour. The following morning the Gov called out the National Guard with orders to shoot to kill any caught looting. That took care of any further interest in looting. By noon of the next day fire halls in all neighboring communities were open for feeding all that had been hit. This went on for ten days till power was back.Donations poured in and all was processed and used.Nothing was left to mold and decay. We lost everything,we had three walls of our foundation left. When we rebuilt I moved in to a fully furnished house and my children clothed for the next year. No Fema,no round the clock constant news and repeating what had been said the other 23 hours. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman
olger Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 It is abundantly evident to me that the media loves drama!!!! They really do... It is profitable, gives them a twinkie high, and keeps the masses distracted from the thing that really matters - the Second Coming of Jesus the Christ. Just count the paranoia's in the last decade. Radon Gas Ozone Hole SARS KILLER Bees Swine Flu Asbestos Bird Flu Lead Paint !! Mold Ladders GLOBAL WARMING !!! and others.... Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Members phkrause Posted September 1, 2011 Author Members Posted September 1, 2011 Olger there is nothing in your post that I disagree with. But Rush is part of that media. Some media people make money going overboard and some like Rush make even bigger money going nuts over what the other nuts say. But you have to admit everyone of those items you listed did happen, and/or are still happening. Tell the people in Vermont that Irene was over hyped! I for one thought that it was a little over done, but for a so called small hurricane it did more damage than some of the larger ones. Anyway that's my feeling about it.
