Moderators Nan Posted September 2, 2011 Moderators Posted September 2, 2011 Maybe on one level the first cartoon has the answer.....to find out the meaning we have to get out there and experience it first hand.! Quote
Members phkrause Posted September 2, 2011 Members Posted September 2, 2011 I think that's one reason I really don't bother with that question because each one of us has a different perspective of the meaning of life. Its different for each one. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

Neil D Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Maybe on one level the first cartoon has the answer.....to find out the meaning we have toget out there and experience it first hand.! Someone on a different thread suggested that our experiences are not guide-worthy in defining life....that those answers should be defined by the bible..... Perhaps we need another defining moment.... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw

Neil D Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 But according to the book "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" the answer to this question is .. ...... .................................................................................................................................................................................... 42. Just a bit of trivia to ponder over..... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Outta Here Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 I thought 42 was the answer, but they did not know the question. Quote
M. T. Cross Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Maybe on one level the first cartoon has the answer.....to find out the meaning we have toget out there and experience it first hand.! Dead on! My 17 y/o son goes on about that life has no meaning and is pointless....... then he logs into Facebook and feels fullfilled. So one day I kicked him off and took him down to the river to have a rock skipping contest. I have not heard him laugh like that since he was about 10. Thats the meaning of life right there. Getting off of your ass and enjoying the small things in life. Quote

Problem is, our understanding of the scriptures is just as subjective as is our experience... Apparently there we go through stages of spiritual maturity...those at the lowest levels think they have all the answers, even if they have to make them up...those at the higher levels realize they not only don't have all the answers they need a whooooole lot of work done on their hearts... Sadly the farther down on the scale we are the more we don't know that we don't know... Well so much for that... Quote facebook. /teresa.quintero.790
Moderators John317 Posted September 5, 2011 Moderators Posted September 5, 2011 ...Someone on a different thread suggested that our experiences are not guide-worthy in defining life....that those answers should be defined by the bible..... What I said was that the Bible is our guide to truth. Our experiences, therefore, are not to be our guide at any point where they aren't supported by the Bible's teachings. For instance, if I feel that it's right to do something that God's word clearly prohibits, then I need to obey the Bible and not my feelings. Eve chose to follow her senses and her reasoning rather than the plain word of God. As long as her experience and her reasoning agreed with God's word, she was ok to follow her experiences, but the minute they diverged from God's word, she had the responsibility to reject her feelings and experiences, and follow the word of God. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
mari Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Years ago, I,ve been said as in the cartoon.....but today, thanks to God, I know that I was created by Him and everyday is a struggle, trying be like Jesus in character, fighting to gain THE REAL LIFE. Quote Isaia 41,1o;Isaia 54,1o

Restin Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I thought I had the meaning of life when I had a windfall of $ and spent it on advanced office equipment for designing and printing out flyers, booklets, etc. for mass mailing the Three Angels Message. Now, after several million copies, I'm burned out...the equipment just sits at the house. I love the Lord, obey Him the best I can, feel guilty I'm not doing anything, but have to be honest with Him, too. I just can't endure making any more copies! So, what's next? I'm sure other Adventists who have specialized ability have found themselves in my shoes. Quote
