Moderators LynnDel Posted September 4, 2011 Moderators Posted September 4, 2011 I saw it when it was showing in Sacramento this summer. They share very interesting statistics about the bad effects of a meat and dairy diet on our health, and claim that cancer can be arrested (not cured) by eating a plant-based diet. I was wondering about those statistics, though - they all seemed old. I wonder how long it took them to make this film. LD Quote LD

Pockey Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 This is why I love the forum, you're all light years ahead of the mainstream. I have the movie, am waiting to invite some friends over this week to watch it together when they get back from the holiday. From what I know of the film it is partly based on "The China Study" by Campbell (which I highly recommend). Campbell devoted decades of research studying the relationship between foods and disease. So I think those stats are based on Campbell's research which was pretty significant as far as sample size and p values. I think someone like Bravus could easily verify this. In related news, Bill Clinton is now vegan. He had several heart attacks before he changed his diet. Heard from a friend who talked with Clinton that it was his daughter Chelsea that gave him two books which convinced him to become vegan. One was "The China Study." The other was "Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease" by Caldwell B. Esselstyn Jr. Quote
