Moderators John317 Posted September 4, 2011 Moderators Posted September 4, 2011 I think it would be best if in a short time, all the Republicans supported Perry. That should come after a couple of debates, and then they should close ranks and come strongly behind the Texas governor. I would favor a Perry-Romney ticket. I think it would be a sure winner. A Perry-Backman ticket would win, too, I believe, but it wouldn't be as strong as Perry-Romney. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Dr. Shane Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Bachmann is a light-weight. I don't see he going any where. I don't think Perry or Romney would pick her as a VP because either of them is not going to want a Washington insider on their ticket. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... I think Perry does need to prove himself on the national stage. He has a shoot-from-the-hip style that could get him in trouble. If he can go a few weeks and stay in front, than I will be more comfortable with him as a candidate. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Moderators John317 Posted September 4, 2011 Moderators Posted September 4, 2011 OH, ok. I didn't know that about him. I was thinking that it would be good for him to be in some nationally televised debates in order for more Americans to get acquainted with him, but it looks like you're saying he doesn't need that and that it could actually be harmful to him. I'm sorry to hear that. :-) I would like to see him get some debating practice before he deabtes Obama, though. And I hope if he shoots from the hip, he has a good draw and shoots straight for the target. I listed to an interview that Bachmann did with Bob Schieffer today. I was surprised that she repeatedly side-stepped the questions. Of course most politicians do that but it was really noticeable. She's a good talker but she really had no ideas. She still may get on the VP ticket because of her Tea-Party support. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Dr. Shane Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 She still may get on the VP ticket because of her Tea-Party support. I don't think so. She is a Washington insider. I don't know who would want to run with that on the ticket. Regardless if the nominee is Perry, Huntsman or Romney, they are going to run as a Washington outsider. I can't see them wanting anyone from Washington on the ticket. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Moderators lazarus Posted September 5, 2011 Moderators Posted September 5, 2011 What type of questions did she side step? She was asked what her specific plans were to create jobs? She didn't have an answer. She kept talking about being a Tax lawyer and how there should be a wholesale reform of the tax system and how jobs are created by the private sector and Obama has destroyed jobs but she gave no solutions. She was asked how she would guarantee that gas prices would be under $2 if she believed in the free market. She said that "everything should be on the table" when it comes to our energy concerns. She has no way of guaranteeing gas prices are below $2 short of price controls. She was asked if she would drill in the Florida everglades. She refused to be specific and said we should "consider any option whether in DC...." etc. When asked the question directly again, she sidestepped. A number of time the interviewer had to say, "the question was...". It was sad. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Bachmann is already running as an outsider. The "Teapublicans" accept her as an outsider. The central theme of her campaign is that she wants to reform Washington. Folk will fall for it. If people can campaign to lead the government on the premise that government is bad for you, harm more than helps etc. then Bachmann can win a the VP slot. Some of these politicians have a negative of view of government jobs and government workers but spend millions of dollars to get selected for a government job. Will decry government healthcare but will use it when they get elected to congress. It's not about reality it's perception that matters. Moderators lazarus Posted September 5, 2011 Moderators Posted September 5, 2011 I think that would be a very difficult sell. Well, GOP'ers are buying! Quote: How can Perry or Romney say that what is wrong with government is Washington and then turn around and choose a sitting Congresswoman as a running mate? All they have to say is that she's not like the others. That's the easy part. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Dr. Shane Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Well, GOP'ers are buying! The VP is chosen after the nomination is secure. At that point, the candidate is done selling to the GOP and is going after the independents - like me. You can run as a Washington outsider with a sitting Congresswoman on the ticket. That is phony baloney, plastic banana. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity

Having said that I do agree that neither MB or SP will help who ever wins. I still believe we should not count MB out as winning the nommination or even SP if she enters the race. Dr. Shane Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 I have never been one to embrace conspiracy theories but if there is any substance to them, selecting Biden would make a lot of sense if Obama was trying to prevent being assassinated by the powers that be in the Democratic party.
