LifeHiscost Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 _____in that it seemed to be involved with some present activity I'm now pursuing. Also unusual since it did not just take one scene of imagery and quit, but rather would keep coming back as I would rise to consciousness from slumber, then fall back in unconscious sleep to come back in a different scene as I would come closer to being awake. It also centered around "should I or shouldn't I", with no clear definition as to which would be the best way to follow. Finally when I awoke with clear graphic detail in remembrance, and mulled the dream/s over in my mind, the one conscious and most pronounced conclusion seemed to center around a song I hadn't thought of anytime within, perhaps the last twenty years. And because the dream/s involved the attitude of other individual's personal responsibility, who were in the dream also, the song I subsequently remembered held a great deal of significance, as well as a settled conviction for the life of many if not all of God's children. The words of the song, "It's me, It's me, O' Lord. Standin' in the need of prayer. It's me, It's me O' Lord. Standin' in the need of prayer." And the conviction? The ones who at last enter the portals of glory, will enter there despite their failures and poor choices, not as a result of the good ones they made. Only Jesus and His shed blood are sufficient, lest any man boast. "But there will be glory and honor and peace from God for all who do good—for the Jew first and also for the Gentile."Romans 2:10 NLT "So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."1 Corinthians 10:31 NLT God blesses! I agree with your conviction that no one will be able to boast of anything. ClubV12 Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 The Lord selected a small army for Gideons battle. So it would be clear to all how the victory was gained, that the glory was the Lords. We, like Gideon, have a battle and a march to perform, we have our roll to play, our work to be done, our determination to overcome. And when our work is done, the glory goes to the Lord. Quote
Pockey Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 For a second I thought you were quoting an Ellen White dream It's pretty cool that you experienced this because I have always wondered if I filled my heart with scripture and song enough, will my dreams be about those things above. I believe it's possible since when I fill my mind with whatever is in the world that is what manifests in my dreams. Quote

I agree with your conviction that no one will be able to boast of anything. Part of its being unusual for me is that I very seldom dream, unless I eat late in the evening, and then usually not anything worth discussing. Appreciated your comment, John. God blesses! I think your right, Sid, that the more of the Word you put in your mind, the more the Holy Spirit brings to the top, often at just the time you're looking for a specific response from Him. In my own journey of faith, when I was a newborn in the body of Christ, my mind would often dream on subjects I felt were unfit for a Christian to be thinking. I talked to God about it and told Him I would like Him to remove those things from my mind, especially since I didn't feel I could control my mind when sleeping. I can honestly say that over the next forty years of my Christian experience, the dreams I've been unhappy with since my request, dreams contrary to Christian morals, I can count on less than five fingers. Appreciated your comment, John. Same with me, Life. I have only had maybe 3 dreams in my lifetime that I can remember, but I do believe those dreams were not coincidental. One of them occurred when I was 10 years old, and concerned the Lord's coming. It was so vivid, so well organized and so brilliantly impressive that I had no doubt even at that young age that it was God's way of telling me Jesus is coming and I needed be ready for Him. Years later, after I'd wandered away from Christ, the memory of this dream influenced me to come back to Christ. Moderators John317 Posted September 6, 2011 Moderators Posted September 6, 2011 Amazing, Gerry!! I had the same kind of experience, and I have talked with others who had a dream similar to the one you describe. I think it's very likely God gives such dreams to people to remind them to be ready for Christ's return. Moderators John317 Posted September 6, 2011 Moderators Posted September 6, 2011 That's true-- there's no argument against those kinds of personal experiences. You know what you saw. It was those kinds of experiences that caused me as a kid to believe in God even when I was a member of an atheistic political party. I was a member because of my opposition to the war in Vietnam. All of the others in the party that I knew claimed to be atheists. I was conscious of being different because I'd been brought up in a wonderful Seventh-day Adventist home, and I just never could shake that past, even though I tried. I couldn't quite believe that God didn't exist. I had seen too much evidence that Christianity and Christ are real. I was ignoring God-- but not totally rejecting Him. I sometimes carried a pocket New Testament with me, which was very odd, to say the least. I was reading it just before about 8 of us had a serious accident near Dateland, Arizona, while driving to a Socialist convention in Cleveland, Ohio. We never did make it. A friend and compatriot lying next to me broke his back. I picked myself up off the desert sand unhurt except for a sore shoulder. Most were airlifted to a small hospital. I left the organization within a few weeks. When I called my mom after the accident, she told me that the accident happened about the time she had been on her knees praying for me. About a year later, I gave my heart to Christ and was baptized with my "room-mate," who had also given his life to Christ and joined the church. The dream was just one among several influences to bring me back to Christ, but it was a powerful one. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
LifeHiscost Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 And keep looking up. I'm of the opinion many of us, even possibly of my generation will be seeing the return of Jesus before meeting death. I receive the magazine, Voice of the Martyrs, and also believe many of us may see difficulties we now barely are aware of. However Jesus will see all through, no matter the circumstances, as long as we hold onto His hand. "“And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do."Luke 12:4 NKJV God blesses! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Moderators John317 Posted September 6, 2011 Moderators Posted September 6, 2011 I agree, Life. I have no doubt it's possible. I think that's why it's so important for us to live healthfully so we can help others learn of Him and get ready when He comes. For sure there will be perecution and suffering, but God doesn't want us to suffer now, ahead of time, just thinking about the future. I think Ellen White says something like that. Sounds like a good plan.:-) Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
