Scheduled to go at the end of this month, but not sure it will happen due to a breach in Highway 12.

My bank is in the middle of Loma Linda. Harder to hold up that way.

That would be an "inner" bank, then..

Since I'm a West Coaster I've never been there in person only vicariously thru pictures which looked very beautiful. They get good surf there during hurricane season so that kinda added some positive to my interest. I'll bet you'll like it like mad. Maybe Richard knows the place better since he's closer. Vacation or business?

Vacation - if we get there. Highway 12 was breached in two places, and "environmentalists" (Tree-huggers) are slowing down the repair of it.

I know people who go every year and even some who own property there, but I've never been. The ones who can afford a place there seem to love it though.

I think the upper crust gets pretty crusty over there. LOL

Not you og...you're not crusty at all.

Pea Island. "Plans to replace the Bonner Bridge will create an endless maintenance problem on N.C. 12 and threaten the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, environmentalist say in a lawsuit filed Friday. The suit challenging the project was filed by the Southern Environmental Law Center, Defenders of Wildlife and the National Wildlife Refuge Association."

"RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- The state Department of Transportation is asking a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit over the current plan to replace the deteriorating bridge connecting Hatteras Island to the rest of North Carolina's Outer Banks.

The state filed its response Wednesday, asking the court to throw out the complaint by groups represented by the Southern Environmental Law Center.

The response says the lawsuit's claims are baseless.

The Bonner Bridge was built in 1963 and was designed to last 30 years. The state is moving forward with plans for a replacement that goes through the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge. Environmentalists support a 17-mile alternative that would bypass the refuge.

DOT officials say construction work could start late next year, with the bridge opening in 2015.

There may be hope.

Is there an alternative way to get over there? How bout a ferry of somekind? Boat (leaving that environmental destroying vehicle of yours in lieu of a more acceptable environmentally destructive vehicle)? Is parachute an option?
