Babylon

I am just wondering what can we learn from the Bible about ancient Babylon that teaches us about modern Babylon? Because the Bible in Revelation uses the term Babylon to refer to the corrupt modern system.

Revelation 17:5

(5) And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

So I will make a start, according to Daniel 1 Babylon does not have the health message, but in the 1st angels message God has given us the health message.

Daniel 1:8

(8) But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

Revelation 14:7

(7) Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

1 Corinthians 10:31

(31) Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

I know that there is people here that know the Bible well so I am hoping to learn much and to start discussion.

Daniel 2:2 says that Babylon uses magicians and sorcery:-

Daniel 2:2

(2) Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.

So does modern Babylon use this?

Revelation 18:23

(23) And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

Revelation 17 says that the woman Babylon is a mother, so her children are doing things like this.

Revelation 13:14

(14) And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

Since these are not genuine miracles from God could it be that they are performed like magic? So through their teachings and the things they do they have sorcery and magicians.
