Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted September 11, 2011 Moderators Posted September 11, 2011 It's nearly time for those of us living in the Northern Hemisphere to see the beautiful Harvest Moon. It will be a special full moon, visible this weekend. It gets its name because the typically full moon in the southeastern sky in September gives farmers an extra hour of light to bring in their crops. Around the time of the Harvest Moon, the moon rises 20 to 30 minutes later in the evenings. This year the peak visibility of the full Harvest Moon will come on Sept. 12 at 5:27 a.m. ET. For more on this phenomenon, see SPACE.com - the skywatching columnist Joe Rao. Quote Jeannie

...Change is inevitable; growth is optional....
