bonnie Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Posted on October 3, 2011 "View" Co-Host Approves Of Whoopi Using The N-Word, Not Walters In the 'Hot Topics' segment on "The View" this morning, the ladies discussed a Washington Post story about a rock with the word "Niggerhead" written on it at the gated entrance of a hunting camp leased and frequented by Rick Perry and his father. Host Barbara Walters used the n-word while explaining the story, causing co-host Sherri Shepherd to take offense. Shepherd says she didn't like the way Barbara Walters said it. However, Shepherd was okay with Whoopi Goldberg, the main host of "The View," using it. Shepherd explained herself: "When I heard you (Whoopi) say it, it was fine. You said it a different way. When I heard you (Barbara) say it, I didn't like the way you said it. Because when you say it, you say [inaudible]. And I don't like [inaudible]," Shepherd said. This left Barbara Walters confused and wanted to know the proper way to say the n-word. However, Shepherd told Walters there is no right way for her to say it. Walters said the n-word once in the segment while Whoopi Goldberg used the word nearly a dozen times. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. bonnie Posted October 4, 2011 Author Posted October 4, 2011 Rev. Sharpton Responds to Rick Perry ‘Niggerhead’ Story October 2, 2011 By EurPublisher 3 Comments 0*Reverend Al Sharpton has released a statement regarding the Washington Post story about GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry’s hosting of friends, supporters and fellow lawmakers at his family’s secluded West Texas hunting camp named “Niggerhead”: “The Washington Post story revealing that Texas Governor Rick Perry hunted and hosted lawmakers at a hunting camp called Niggerhead is alarming and displays a new height in racial insensitivity in national politics. Mr. Perry should immediately fully explain how he could have gone to a ranch and hunted that is named after such an obvious racist term or he should withdrawl from the race. He is either blindly insensitive or hopelessly unaware of where he spends his time. Either way it makes one wonder if he is ready for prime time and certainly whether he is ready for the White House. – Reverend Al Sharpton, President National Action Network” Have to wonder why we didn't read something like Mr.Obama should immediately fully explain how he could have gone to a church and worshipped that was served by Jerimiah Wright such an obvious racist or he should withdraw from the race. He is either blindly insensitive or hopelessly unaware of where he spends his time. bonnie Posted October 4, 2011 Author Posted October 4, 2011 I've noticed that racists are usually confused about what racism is. I guess they have to be to justify their thoughts and actions. Could be.But it also seems there are those that feel they belong to such a special select group they actually own the rights to certain words and those words are appropriate whenever or however they chose to use them Racism is also feeling your skin color or nationality is so special that behavior and language is only to be viewed from their perspective and they have the final and only correct view. During a dispute where I worked between a black employee and a white employee over that word. The black employee was using the N word while in converstaion to the white employee. Referring to another black employee as N..... trash and other nice language. She told him if he intended to have a conversation with her he would have to stop using that kind of language. It became rather heated as he told her all the reasons he could do so.She told him she had no interest in such a stupid ignorant conversation. It went from there to the HR where he filed a complaint saying he had been called a ignorant stupid N.... The only reason she was not fired was because there were so many witnesses to the argument that disputed what he said. He only lasted a couple of months following that with the continual whine of racial prejudice. Call it what you will Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. He's against the white man obviously, ("KKK of america") and seems to be against America in general. Quote
Dottie Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 From what I've since heard about the Perry hunting ranch-- Perry's father used to go to that ranch to hunt. Later he either leased or bought the land, or part of it. When he acquired the land, he painted over the rock [whatever size it is, we haven't been told] and eventually was able to get it turned over so that even the paint did not show. The father objected to the term, and the family since then has used it as a family retreat. --no substantiation, but gathered from various sources. Quote

This is people trying to make a bigger deal of a situation that has been going on longer than some of us have lived. When growing up I always had more minority friends that white friends. My black friends used to say that to each other all the time, but if a white friend said that, they told you right away that you had no right to utter that word. I agree with whoopi and Sherry 100%. And this is not just a issue with black & white, almost all different ethnic groups do the same thing. I lived in a very interesting neighborhood in NY, we had Italians, in one area, PR in another, AAs in another, Irish, etc., and all had there so called sayings which no one else had the right to say. So this is a whole lot of nothing. And besides they've had this on the view before and no one said anything. No actually I believe this happened on Oprah.
