Neil D Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 When we say that Christianity is a personal relationship with God, what do we mean? Feel free to post anecdotal accounts as to what is meant by this concept of "a personal relationship with God"? teresaq Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 I see we don't know what we mean...Either that or the rest are like me and we go brain-dead trying to figure out what to say. :) Quote facebook. /teresa.quintero.790
Christopher Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Personal relationship with God hmmmm good question. For me it began with the scripture that says "taste and see that He is good" a long time ago, didn't have a clue what it meant. Can't see Them personally at the moment so how does one do the personal relationship stuff? So i started testing things out, maybe testing or trying God out with things He said he would do or I interpreted that way also Just talking to Him/them as though they are really there, just beliving having faith whatever one wants to call it. And I started seeing things happening that i couldn't explain to myself as other than god answering or doing things. And started trying the principles of other-centered Love and tasted that Hey He is good and not lying about Love and how good it is in every respect. still go buggy trying to think about it sometimes, like teresa said. but so far thats were I'm at. Is that a personal relationship with God/Jesus/Holy Spirit/FAther in Heaven/Wisdom? best i can understand/come up with at the moment. Quote JOHN 17:3 and 4
teresaq Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Reminds me of Jer 33:3 I think giving links are ok... Quote facebook. /teresa.quintero.790
Nich Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Regarding the statement, I do not think that Christianity means a personal relationship with God, I think that a personal relationship with God is a part of Christianity. Christianity encompasses much more than communion with God, some of which are renewal of the heart and ministry. Although Christianity is incomplete without communion with God, so also is the Christian experience incomplete without a transformation of the heart or active ministry or service, hence communion with God alone cannot define what Christianity is. Communion with God is a part of Christianity. Communion with God is a privilege to fallen man that Christ made possible, without which, man's sins, would have forever caused the separation of man from God. Hence, every soul that is seeking for more than what this world can offer, can have access to God through Christ - For comfort, instruction and direction, affirmation, strength and every other need that a soul has.
