Huntsman: I thought '9-9-9' was pizza price

I would say anyone watching tonight got the message load and clear. Herman Cain's plan means a new federal tax that will never go away. I would say Cain got his lunch served to him.

I have long preferred the flat tax to our current bloated behemoth. Cain's plan might fill that bill.

The problem is that future Presidents and Congresses can increase all those taxes (corporate, individual and sales). It is insane to start a new tax without eliminating an existing one. Let's eliminate the payroll tax and replace it with a sales tax or eliminate income tax.

I think that point was driven home tonight.

I didn't see it live; will have to watch the re-run tonight.

They're hammering Cain because he's being taken much more seriously now by the voters, and so the other candidates want to knock him down so they can jump over him.

I saw reruns of the debate last night and really enjoyed it. It's great fun and entertainment. I thought Romney and Gingrich did the best, but Cain did very well, too. I'm disappointed in Perry. I used to think he would be my candidate, but I doubt it now. I like all of them as people, though, and think they would all be able to handle the job better than Obama has.

Ron Paul is hilarious-- the other candidates usually had huge smiles on their faces when he was talking. I thought Gingrich and a few others were about to burst out laughing. I think Paul has some very good ideas, but even if he were president, he wouldn't be able to do most of what he says he'd want to do.

LOL John, I think the big problem with Perry is, he only wants to attack Romney, because he thinks he's the guy to beat. I do see a few times that they actually answer the questions, but mostly they are wanting to attack each other. At least that's the impression I get from Perry most of all. Romney has done a great job in making him look like a fool. Cain in my estimation has the upper hand. His biggest problem is his 999. It doesn't fly the more people break it down.

Perry got a lot of heat from his base for not attacking Romney in past debates. When we look at the money and organization in place, it does look like it is going to be Perry and Romney. I will be happy with either. If you noticed, when Perry went on the attack, Romney responded by saying he knew Rick had had a couple of bad debates. Where did that come from? Romney said that because he knows that Perry's advisers were telling him he had to go on the attack because of past debates. At this point it is about fund raising. Perry had to show his fund raisers that he can go on the attack in a debate. Although Perry's charge against Romney was kind of weak, Perry did prove that he can go on the attack and I think that is what he was trying to achieve.

I agree. I would still go for Perry if he's the candidate, but I would actually perefer Romeny at this point. I'd love to see a Romney-Cain ticket. That'd be ideal in my thinking. They'd both be good for the economy, I think.

Same here, but I doubt either one of those guys would pick the other as his running mate. They don't seem to be too friendly. I think they would run together only if they felt they had to in order to win. That's what Kennedy and Johnson decided, so it's happened before.
