Stan Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Laurie L. (Sands) Ruddy Laurie L. (Sands) Ruddy, 44, of Midland, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at MidMichigan Medical Center. The daughter of Carolyn (Adams) Peterson and the late Martin "Bob" R. Sands was born Aug. 29, 1967, in Lansing. On Dec. 16, 1998, she married John Ruddy. Laurie was a very loving mother and wife. She loved her church, Edenville Seventh-day Adventist Church, and was very devoted to God. Her favorite text was Proverbs 15: 13 & 30 and her favorite hymn was "Oh for a Thousand Tongues to Sing." Laurie loved going to camp, meeting with her family and church members as well as the mother-daughter retreats. She loved her animals, cooking, camping, gardening and fall harvest. She loved going on vacations, seeing the ocean and mountains, stopping at the Waffle Houses along her travels. But most of all, Laurie loved spending time with her family. Laurie is survived by her husband, John; daughters, Carrie (husband Marc), Jessica, Theresa, Katelyn, and Kayla; sons, Tyler, (girlfriend Katie), and Joshua; stepdaughters, Rachele (boyfriend Joe), Ranay (husband Luis), and Robyn (husband Chad); stepson, John II (girlfriend Becky); and 14 grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Carolyn Peterson of Lansing; sister, Katie (husband Dan); brothers, Charlie (wife Maria), Tim, and Andy (wife Jean); mother-in-law; sisters and brothers-in-law; and many friends. She will be greatly missed by so many and will always be cherished in our hearts and memories. A memorial service will be held for Laurie at 12 p.m., Friday, Oct, 14, 2011, from the Edenville Seventh-day Adventist Church, with a luncheon to follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the Edenville Seventh-day Adventist Church for the school. Personal messages of condolence may be left for the family at j.nj.ruddy@hotmail.com.
