Stan Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Elizabeth Marie Tomlin (Stringer), 83, of Deerfield Township, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, Oct. 19, 2011, at her home. The wife of the late Lewis Henry Tomlin, who passed away in 1972, she was born in Vineland and was the daughter of the late John Francis Sr. and Elizabeth Marie (Campbell) Stringer. She was a 1955 graduate of Vineland High School and a life-time area resident. Elizabeth worked for more than 50 years as a seamstress. For most of her working career, she was employed at Major Clothing in Bridgeton. One of her greatest passions was playing the organ. During her lifetime, she served as the organist for the Seventh Day Adventist Churchs in Bridgeton and Vineland. Most recently, she played for the Minotola Methodist Church. She loved to travel and go camping with her family and would camp for three weeks along the eastern United States. She was a member of the Deerfield Senior Center and a lover of animals. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Shirley Mae Stringer of Bridgeton; two nieces, Sharon L. Stein and her husband Kevin of Deerfield Twp. and Lisa G. Johnson of Delaware; one nephew, Matthew D. Stringer and his wife Patty of Pella, Iowa; five great-nephews, Russell Johnson, Brandon Fry, Cole Stringer, Gabriel Stringer and Darin Warfield Jr.; and one great great-niece, Shelby Fry. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John F. Stringer Jr. in 2005; and great great-nephew, Roucsh Fry. Funeral services will take place privately at the convenience of the family. The interment will take place privately at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Millville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elizabeth’s memory to ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency), 12501 Old Columbia Pike, Silver Springs, MD 20904.
