HARTFORD CITY - Wallis Normand Ort "Wally", 83, died at 4:23 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2011 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Muncie on May 12, 1928 to the late Kenneth Richard Ort and the late Treva (Weaver) Neff.

Wally served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954.

He married his first wife, Bernice (Vaughn) Ort on December 31, 1954. She precedes him in death on April 29, 1999. He married his second wife, Jean Q. (Monroe) Clark-Ort on February 14, 2009 in Hartford City at the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Wally retired from 3M Company in Hartford City in 1986 after twenty-seven years of service. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Hartford City, a member of Blackford Masonic Lodge F & AM, the American Legion Post #519 and the Blackford County Senior Citizens. He was an avid fisherman.

He coached Pony League Baseball for four years, coached Little League Baseball for twenty-four years and coached Babe Ruth Baseball for eight years. Wally had helped bring PeeWee Football to Blackford County in 1965, where he coached for nineteen years.

Wally will be sadly missed by his wife, Jean Q. Clark-Ort of Hartford City; sons, Kenneth R. Ort (fiancé, Nancy White) of Hartford City, Steve A. (wife, Traci A.) Ort of Hartford City; daughter-in-law, Joni B. (Johnson) Ort-Ellis of Greentown; step-daughter, Jacquline J. (husband, Keith) Potter of Williamsburg, Virginia; step-son, Robert R. Quinting Jr. of Hartford City; grandchildren, John Turner, Kyle Ort, Alex Ort, Eric Sanders, Katie Sanders, Amber Sanders, Ashton White, Tanya Ort, Chad Ort, Steve Ort II, Prestin Ort, Amanda Ort, Austin Ort, Alisa Potter, Kristen Potter; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Dick Ort and sister Sharon Wall; several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his 1st wife, son, Wallis N. Ort "Wally" and daughter, Sue M. Ort.

Funeral service for Wally will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St. Hartford City with Rev. Bobby Thomas and Pastor Ron Olney officiating.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Keplinger Funeral Home.

Wally will be cremated.
