Hal Holbrook the actor, has been a pitch man for the Sabbath for sometime, is he just a hired hand or has he become an Adventist?

Pat Arribito would be the one to ask about that. Try Googling LLT Producations

At campmeeting someone involved with the program talked about the choice; there were a few actors they were negotiating with. There were 3 mentioned: One was Leonard Nimory who is Jewish and had a religious conversion and while in a Jewish context has fallen in love with God and the Bible and loves the Sabbath. I don't remember the second person mentioned, but he was an actor who is a Christian, they were glad that he did not do it as he later did another series which while a good program for some reason was thought it would be confusing had he done the program on the Sabbath (I think he acted in "Left Behind" or something lke that but can't remember for sure). Then Hal Holbrook, who although did not have a religious background was still interested in the project and they liked his presentation

I seriously doubt it... If he did become an Adventist we would have read about it in the Review and they would have paraded him in all the campmeetings all over the US. Nuff Sed

Kevin's interpretation sounds about the way I heard it.

Maybe they've learned the lesson after parading what's that Hollywood couple's name [Winters?] that became SDAs years ago but left?

But how could a churchman ask a stage player, an actor, [Greek hypocrites] ask someone who is not convicted of the truth present it? We are not selling breakfast cereal here.

That is the story that was told by those who are producing and selling the DVDs. The church has hired different people over the years.

I also had heard some time ago that Hal had become a SDA. Don't forget that FFT used to hired non SDA to play roles in there Television program, not sure what they do now. But when I worked for them '65-'72 they did. Don't know who winters is but I remember Little Richard and the softball player got paraded around quite a bit. Little Richard is still an adventist I believe, but not sure about the softball player. Can't remember his name at the moment.

No doubt it would of surfaced somewhere by now.

I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs.

I think they learned not to parade celebrities anymore from the Winters' case. Remember Shelley & Richard[?] Winters of Hollywood?

Eddie Feigner? Little Richard has been in and out of Adventism/Christianity about a hundred times I think.

DOUG YOWELL

thank you for this information

I remember his name mainly because I played in a game before one of his (The King and His Court)exhibition games. Ours was the warm up game, kinda like being the warm up band at a concert.I remember that I don't think he was much of an Adventist by that time but then that was more than 30 years ago and I wasn't paying that close attention to those kind of things. I believe he played with only a catcher and one outfielder as his team, and by that time he had lost a lot of his original mojo. It was rather disappointing given all the hype I'd always heard.

Yes, I think he has a problem leaving the lifestyle alone, that he once left behind.
