They should Occupy Prison

This is the face of liberalism, America. It is lawless, selfish, disrespectful and above all mean. The Democratic Party’s embrace, promotion and even logistical support of the Occupy Wall Street movement likely will backfire. Imagine the reaction from Coloradans to reading this in their Denver Post this morning:

In the most violent Saturday in more than a month of Occupy Denver demonstrations and marches, Denver police fired pepper spray and pepper balls at a crowd of protesters in Civic Center and arrested 20 people.

Two of the protesters were held for felony charges after police said an officer was knocked off his motorcycle and other officers were kicked, as they moved into the park to tear down illegal tents.

The first mid-afternoon confrontation had police and state troopers shoulder-to-shoulder pushing a group of marchers off the state Capitol steps, which is out-of-bounds to protesters without a permit.

John Nolte, editor-in-chief of Big Hollywood, has chronicled 100 incidents of violence and lawlessness at the various Occupy stunts this month alone.

Chief among them is the arrest of 700 people for blocking the Brooklyn Bridge on October 1. From the New York Times: “In a tense showdown above the East River, the police arrested more than 700 demonstrators from the Occupy Wall Street protests who took to the roadway as they tried to cross the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday afternoon. The police said it was the marchers’ choice that led to the enforcement action.”

There was this from the London Daily Mail: “Stinking up Wall Street: Protesters accused of living in filth as shocking pictures show one demonstrator defecating on a police car.” With photo by Stefan Jeremiah. I’ll pass.

There was this from the Daily Cardinal: “City officials temporarily denied Occupy Madison a new street use permit Wednesday after protesters violated public health and safety conditions and failed to follow the correct processes to renew or amend a permit. The permit, which expired Wednesday at noon, required Occupy Madison protesters to relocate from their current space at 30 West Mifflin Street, also called 30 on the Square. A neighboring hotel’s staff alleged voiced concerns about having to recently escort hotel employees to and from bus stops late at night due to inappropriate behavior, such as public masturbation, from street protesters.”

Thankfully, the student publication of the University of Wisconsin-Madison did not publish photographs of that last act.

The media has by and large been very supportive of the various Occupy stunts organized by unions and radical groups. The allegations of rape, pimping underage girls and underage drinking are largely ignored by a national press that repeatedly lied about the peaceful, law-abiding Tea Party movement. With Occupy, police have had to arrest more than 1,000 Occupiers — even as police ignore permit violations, camping violations and pot-smoking. I cannot recall police arresting a single Tea Party member, even though there were 100 times as many of them.

My hope is the American people will see through this charade and vote Republican next year in a backlash against this group of freeloaders. We shall see.
