Perry - Really?

This morning on GMA they were ready to put the nail in the coffin on the Perry campaign. As the day has played out, I began to wonder. Did Perry really goof up... or was this planned?

Perry has been getting drowned out. Cain has been sucking up all of the headlines. Today it has been almost wall to wall coverage of Perry. Perry hit all the news shows and has been headlined on the Drudge Report. Limbaugh and Hannity both gave the "goof up" a positive spin and Perry is on Letterman joking about it.

Other than this "goof up" the debate was Perry's best debate so far... which really makes me wonder if it was really a goof up. The subject of the goof up was eliminating certain parts of the government which is very popular among the TEA Party base. That message was repeated over and over and over today.

This goof up also does something else for Perry. It lowers the bar for his debate performance. In the future, if and when he does poorly in a debate, he will not be judged so harshly because he has lowered the bar.

So I really wonder if this wasn't a planned, hail-Mary pass. Perry is behind and not gaining ground. Cain is sucking up all the headlines and Gingrich is gaining.
