Perry isn't just conservative. He leans a bit too much Libertarian. He has raised a lot of money but I think his position on the issues just hurts him too much. He doesn't even have the evangelical wing of the GOP supporting him. That means he is in real trouble.

I still think if Perry can learn how to debate he can still do well. He has a certain passion and charisma that would appeal despite his positions.

Gingrich is a scholar and even after 3 years of on-the-job training, I think Gingrich is more qualified to be President than Obama is. Gingrich has a balanced budget in his record and if he gets his message out there right and his handled right could be a very tough competitor for Obama. However if the tables get turned around on him he could be made to look like a villain and hand Obama a landslide victory. (I consider a landslide to be when a candidate wins the popular vote by a double-digit margin)

My real concern about Gingrich is his new belief on the role of the church in relation to the state. That is something I am really going to keep my eye on.
