olger Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I was trenching a storm line across our parking lot last Tuesday and ran smack into a granite flagstone foundation. Drat. Air hammer time... I grabbed the 90# hammer and worked the BFR (big fat rock) over for about 80-minutes. Finally got enough chunks broke off of it to continue the trench. Moral of the story: You never know what's under the surface of a parking lot. Or a person for that matter. Some people have issues buried deep inside that they think don't matter. People bury bitterness, moral failure, and anger inside of them and think it is hidden for good. But hidden issues always reveal themselves eventually through our language, our actions, and our thoughts. The solution is to identify the issue(s) and allow the Spirit of God to expose and remove the "chunk." However painful, the resolution is worth it and the parking lot will heal. Happy digging! Dr. Shane Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Why does a roofer need to be trenching in a parking lot? Were you connecting downspouts to the storm sewer? I had electricians on a job that were trenching in the parking lot of site lighting when they hit an underground fuel tank that no one knew was there. It stopped that portion of the work for a couple of months. We had to get the soil tested and have some environmental recovery group come out and remove the tank. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... I'm just askin'........ 'cus if I was in your position, I would be muttering and complaining about stubborn people and then I would be looking at me...and then I would be searching for all the big problems and taking that #80 jack to some of those problems.....and seeing how many chips flew off of that.... olger Posted November 13, 2011 Author Posted November 13, 2011 Shane this is a new 2-story addition to our shop. Notice the granite chunks in the lower foreground. One of them was close to 80# - fun to lift up out of a narrow trench. It's been fun to build the addition though! I was hooking up a DS to a new field tile. I ran the tile out in the field 100' and filled the trench with #57 stone. I hope it works.
