I don't think you understand what he is saying here, and you go by "You are a Soul" . What he is saying is that you are an immortal human being that has a body. Something along the lines "You are a soul... immortal being that survives death ... You have a body". Essentially it's a philosophical play on words. Such as "If your body is yours, who are you?"

C.S.Lewis believed that soul survived death.

If you've read any of the Narnia books, I think it's fairly clear that he believed it.

Nevertheless, it's a great example of how one can simply draw a frame of reference with a few sentences, and other people will fill it in with whatever it is they believe.

It seems that C.S. Lewis believed that people are souls rather than that they have a soul. There's a big difference.

Perhaps C.S. Lewis wrote things on the topic from both viewpoints. Luther did the same.

Can you quote anything in which Lewis clearly says that humans have immortal souls?

The Narnia books are fiction and therefore aren't good evidence for C.S. Lewis' actual beliefs on the soul.

This verse should help to clear this up,

Jer 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

So what was he before he was in the womb?

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Before my son was conceived, I went and prepared all of his studies, food plans, teachers, and commissioned him to be the future scholar of the year.

None of the above statements would dictate that soul somehow exists before the conception.

There is a theory that our existance as humans is part of our journey. Like a step along the way. That we need to "do our time" so to speak and learn the strengths and weaknesses of the flesh. In that theory C.S. Lewis AND the quote from Jerimiah would be absolutely right.

So the question is. Do we just live this life, experience what it is to be a flesh bound soul, or do we try to remember who we really are? Who that soul really is?
