Just watched the Eastern Time Zone of Jay Leno.

In the crazy ads part, he showed a SIGNS OF THE TIMES, making fun of it for some reason...

Might want to view that as it creeps across america in the times zones

I saw the show last night...I like that part,...the headliners....They can be rather amazing sometimes...

In this case, he pointed out that the Signs of the Times was a "religious publication" and it showed 2 men with light sabers. His comment was, "I don't know that the war in heaven was using lightsabers", his reference to Star Wars.

Overall, I don't think that it hurt our publication, but it did give some free publicity to it. Even if it was negetive, I don't think that it hurt it...

Upon reflection, I do have to wonder what the Editors of the Signs was thinking using a classic scene from Star Wars with a couple of guys [presumably Jesus and Lucifer] squaring off in the classic light sabers pose with light sabers...

This is last September's cover.

And the article (by Marvin Moore), begins like this:

"'A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away . . .'

These are the opening words of Star Wars, the first in a popular line of fictional space odysseys. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker are among the last survivors of a race of good warriors called the Jedi."

Let me give you another one:

There is a national columnist who writes a column entitled "Jesus of the Week". He writes on the web, and in the print media, and has a new column each week.

He begins his column by reproducing a figure of Jesus. That reproduction may be a painting, a ceramic, an advertisement, a book cover, a magazine illlustration, etc. Then he writes his column criticizing it, and essentially making of it.

Seventh-day Adventist print media is a major source for his column. He reproduces our art in full, and discusses it. His column is distributed nationally.

I have personally worked with the General Conference on this national column, and I am informed by the General Conference that his reproduction of SDA art is in full complicance with copyright law. He does not have to pay us royalities. We can not prevent him from using our art to make fun of Christ.

I wonder if the artist who did the cover for YOUR BIBLE AND YOU, dreamed that his cover would be used to mock Christ?

May his heart be converted that he might see Christ's beauty...

That is evidence that the art is inspired. Inpsiration causes those that observe it to react. They are either drawn closer to Christ or rebel against Him. The fact that someone is making fum of Christian art simply indicates the strong possibility of its divine inspiration.

I'd rather rephrase that statement this way: Just because someone is making fun of Christian art doesn't mean it is either good or bad; we must judge each work on its individual merits.

I would not want to go so far as saying that art that is made fun of means that it therefore is good or divinely inspired. When someone makes fun of Christian art, we can draw this definite conclusion: This person wants to make fun of Christian art.

In which case, Picaso's strange looking art was also inspired .....NOT!
