Obama vs. GOP

The latest poll (Rasmussen 11/14-11/20) has Obama behind the generic Republican 43% to 46%. However even in earlier polls where Obama was tied at 43% to 43% that is bad news for Obama because typically the undecided favor the challenger. So a tie at 43% means that 14% are undecided and most of that 14% normally will vote against the incumbent.

Look at Obama's approval and disapproval numbers.

Obama Approval Rating

The three latest polls have his disapproval rating above 50%. And remember, the undecided voters typically vote against the incumbent.

This election really looks like it is the Republicans to lose. If the Republicans don't make any big mistakes, it looks like Obama will not win unless something unforeseeable happens.
