Moderators Gerr Posted November 27, 2011 Moderators Posted November 27, 2011 We were away for Thanksgiving, so I was not at my home church today. When the SS program started, there were about 10 present in a church that has probably about 250 attendants during the 11 o'clock service. I have visited this church probably 10-12x in the past 5 years, and that seems to be the norm, i.e. the SS program very poorly attended on time. This looks rather pathetic. How is your church? Quote
mrsducky Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 My church usually has 90-100 of 200+ members in attendance. We had a dismal attendance today also--about 60. I'm not up early enough for Sabbath School but that used to be poorly attended on a regular basis. We share our pastor with a nearby church so he is only there every other week. Quote
ClubV12 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Hmmm, I never thought about how many were actually in attendance on a regular Sabbath. Gotta be well over 100, more like 200 I would guess. Anyway, sometimes my Sabbath school class is almost standing room only. We do have extra chairs and sometimes we quite literally "press together". There are two other Sabbath school classes also well attended, but I've never sat in on them. The BIG one meets in the main church. I hear they are excellent, but the one I'm in is SO good I wonder if it's possible to be better? I really look forward to Sabbath school. I really like the sermons too. Our Pastor does two churches so he's not always there. But the Assistant Pastor is great and we have lot's of invited speakers as well. Most of the time it's really good stuff. I've attended some other churches in the area and the sermons were pretty run of the mill, the Sabbath school is "OK". I think I've been spoiled by my home church.... Oh, on special days like after T-Day or some big event at another church, yeah, our church is pretty empty! Quote
Moderators Kevin H Posted November 27, 2011 Moderators Posted November 27, 2011 On weeks I work I usually just make it for the sermon, my week off I attend Sabbath school and it is about 1/3 to 1/2 the amount who comes to church. However the church I've been attending is not a typical Seventh-day Adventist church, it was started by a social worker and her mother for a church for especially kids and the families she has been working with and their friends, and have vans that takes a lot of the kids and even some of the adults in. At more traditional Adventist churches I've attended in both New York and California it has usually been as usually very little difference between Sabbath school and church attendence. So I was surprised at your post. Quote
