BobRyan Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Ok -- so "again" -- The atheist view of the Gospel is that mankind does not need anything - it is ok for us to simply live suffer disease and oppression and die -- with nothing to follow, since we are just the result of pond slime "given time". The atheist view is that what we have today in modern nations is much better than the caveman days - so this is actually atheist "heaven" to start with. By contrast - the Christian view given through the Gospel found in the Bible - is that "eternal life" in a deathless, sinless, disease-less context where the entire universe is ours to explore in full and open fellowship with God and the Angels - was our FIRST heritage our FIRST estate, the condition from which mankind FELL. Christian view is that all those things did not "just happen" but rather that the sovereign of the universe with infinite wisdom and power MADE it all -- and also setup LAW that governs the universe - a law that included penalty for sin to ensure the stability and security of the Universe for all time. For the atheist this would be "taking the Bible too literally". For the Christian - it is the story of eternal life - restored. The atheist is free to then argue that they would prefer to burn in the lake of fire of Rev 20 rather than have to put their faith in the Word of God. (At this point they have real vested "interest" in their by faith statement "there is no god" because they have "bet the farm" by now) They want "no king" but self. Well ok - to each his own. We believe in free will after all. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." COL 316.

BobRyan Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 You may choose not to believe in the laws of physics and mischaracterize it as evil - but it is one of those things that "is" whether you choose it or not. At this point you are heavily invested in the notion that there is no lake of fire - like a horse thief heavily invested in the old west in the notion that he would never be caught. Well.. ok we all see that your idea is certainly one possible reaction to God's plan to save mankind. Which brings us to the "atheist diary at the GWT" thread - http://www.clubadventist.com/forum/ubbth...html#Post498195 Let each one choose as they will. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." I know what you are trying to say, but laws of physics are self-evident. You don't have to prove to someone that if you throw a rock up, it will fall down. Resurrection on the other hand... never seen one happen. Neither have I seen a single angel. Neither have I heard God speaking. The only way we know about Christian God is through mostly-anonymous writings of men. Are you really comparing a fairly moral and compassionate human being to a thief? That's your view of people who don't believe... that they are criminals? Quote
