Woody Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I think we are. This all is God's plan. He knew what would happen. In the Great Controversy theme - we are called to suffer that in suffering we remain strong and glorify Jesus our Creator. By remaining strong in our suffering we honor God and declare HIS way to be the BEST way compared to what happens when one aligns one's self with Satan. Jesus has to be SURE that all realize that HIS way is best. SO - we MUST suffer. 4 Him Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

I read thru Bibleonly's posts and he appears to have as strong an opinion on most matters as I do. I haven't been offended by his replies and I don't think he has been offended by mine. Thanks for your two cents worth 'pappy' but neither one of us has wrecked the car yet! I actually like Bibleonly - at least he can finish a post without saying 'keep the ten commandments'. Quote

Not sure how this relates to the topic. But then perhaps it doesn't and wasn't meant to. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. M. T. Cross Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I don't know that we are called to, but it is part of life. Quote
Woody Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 "If any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf." "If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you." 1 Peter 4:16, 14. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Woody Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 “The apostles suffered extreme torture because of the painful position in which they were left, but they did not murmur. Instead, in the utter darkness and desolation of the dungeon, they encouraged each other by words of prayer and sang praises to God because they were found worthy to suffer shame for His sake.” {AA 213.4} Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Members phkrause Posted December 4, 2011 Members Posted December 4, 2011 Personally I don't believe we are called to suffer. But Jesus did say that we would suffer because of believing in and accepting him as our Savior. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Woody Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 I can see what you are saying pk. Since God is in control and knows that we must suffer for Him. I guess He is calling us to suffer graciously. :) Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
ClubV12 Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 He is no respector of persons. Many people suffer enormously, even unto death. Most often from no fault of their own. War for instance, or being a slave of some kind. Christians don't get a "free ride" because we love God, sin is the pitts all around. God only tolerates it for the eternal good of all created beings, but only for a period of time. Soon, "soon" as in Gods time table, He will wipe away all tears, even His tears. Quote

CoAspen Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Yep, agree to both PK and EC. Life is what it is! Quote
Administrators Gail Posted December 4, 2011 Administrators Posted December 4, 2011 No one likes to have to pick up a cross and bear it, but yeah, I agree that it's a part of life in this sin-afflicted ball of mud. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
12tribes Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 1 Peter 3:18 (18) For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 1 Peter 4:1 (1) Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; Quote Galatians 3:29(29) And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
