The analogy between Christ and the church to husband and wife is one of sacrifice and service, not one of leadership. "Husbands, love your wife as Christ loved the church and gave himself for it". It's a mis-application to use this text to counsel subjection to women... that's not its focus at all.

Very true.

How many here consider themselves on equal terms with Jesus Christ?

you totally misunderstand, Twilight....

We are not saying that we are NOT under His authority...We ARE saying that our source [of knowledge, faith, even life itself] is from Him....

Looking about at those who were sitting around Him, He *said, “ Behold My mother and My brothers!Mark 3:34

Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

John 15:14-16

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters

....and interestingly, He calls us "brothers"....that kinda sounds equal to me....Whose gonna argue that, if it comes from Him?

this is true.....

A loving relationship is focused on what each can do for the other...not on leadership.

Another other type of relationship will prove dysfunctional and unequal....and the one that feels put upon will break free from the relationship and, at the very least, dislike the other...
