I am always glad to find a case now and then where someone quoting the Bible on this section of the board.

John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free

“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." COL 316.

Doesn't look like a quote to me...

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

(And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

I agree. I don't see Jesus, or the bible trying to make a point that there is only one God...I see it more about their "oneness" in character, especially John 17 makes that point. The pagan gods were anything but united in heart and character.

I think we also forget that the bible was written, not in western society where we do not have literal idols and mythologies that we bow down to as our gods, but where the peoples all around them did have those gods they bowed down to and worshipped.

I think the author of this thread may be thinking more of the oversized gods of Greek and Roman mythologies than the point the bible may be making, as I understand it. And they were indeed considered "human" only more so.

Then we have the societies that try to do away with all feeling and emotions as characterized by "Spock" and the "Vulcans".

What is wrong with having feelings? What is wrong with God feeling anger, not our unsanctified, often demonic anger, at the pain and suffering going on down here? Would we really want anything to do with a "god" who was cold and distant? If that is our picture wouldn't that make us cold and distant to those around us when we see them in any kind of need?

And finally, if being immaterial is so great, with no eyes or ears or sense of touch, why on earth did He make everything material, to be seen, heard, felt? Why not make everything incorporeal including us? Just vapors floating around in nothingness? Not able to see, hear, feel - touch, as well as emotions? :)
