Stan Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 "God does not repay evil for evil, and thus the righteous should not do so either. BibleOnly Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 "Blessing means laying one's hand on something and saying, Despite everything, you belong to God" That's not really true. It's true to say that 'despite everything, you CAN belong to God', but not everyone 'belongs' because most people are not Christians. Quote
Gibs Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Stan, It's sure true everything belongs to God and each of us does and He has given us liberty to choose Him or another whom we are in contest with for eternal life. We may tell then all they belong to Him but they don't have to believe it. God loves even Satan but hates his ways and rebellion. He surely cannot bless what He hates and Satan has gone so far that reconciliation for him and his is past. Right, evil gets no reward but will reap it's recompense. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Christ died for us "while we were yet sinners". I remember the time when I was without Christ, ungodly, an enemy, too. I LOVE Romans 5! It stops me in my tracks more times than I can say! In any case it really changes the way we look at others and how we consider them, EVEN if they are evil. Please refer to the topic I just started in the Theological Townhall about mercy. I borrowed from yesterday's sermon. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
BibleOnly Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Well, I do think it's important to 'love those who persecute us', I'm just saying, while Christ died for us, we WERE sinners and cut off from God, that is why Jesus died. Quote
